The walls were the same white walls that once encircled the capital of Enduria. It must have been breached by the stampede. Traces of the repairs made to the pristine white wall could be seen and the Daigiss vines, helpful in hiding human presence from monsters, were left to cover its surface as it grew unfettered, nurtured by the magic essence that permeated the air.

A clear, wide berth existed between the outer wall and the forest. In the clearing, a blanket of the monster repelling herb, Promintella, covered the earth.

Both plants had been used by Mariella for her cottage as it was necessity for those who lived in monster territory. But a fearful sight was created when the plants were set with the beautiful white walls of Enduria as a backdrop. The Daigiss vines as it clung to the walls, twisting and turning like a blood vein running through the walls and the field of Promintellas spilling over the earth with its petals of red and purple hues.

The glories of the kingdom of Enduria had been relegated to being a fairy tale over the passage of two hundred years.

Where once, disbarring emergencies, the gates into Enduria were open at all times. Now, those gates remained tightly closed. There remained only a small side entrance where a single person could pass. This, too, was guarded by a sentry. Captain Dick seemed to be acquainted with the guardsmen, as he exchanged greetings with them. Soon after the heavy gate, creaked as it slowly opened allowing the carriage to enter the dungeon city with Mariella on board.

The scene within the gates had also had changed beyond recognition.

Unlike the garrison city that was a city for the immigrant residence, the capital of Enduria had always had grand building made of stone masonry. Because of this, some of the buildings survived destruction and still remained standing. Unlike the garrison city, which had not only been reduced to a rubble but had already been reclaimed by the forest.
