So, what are some good Chinese series that are easy to get into, and are universally agreed on to be good? Preferably licensed series, something that I, really reading only Japanese-based novels, can sink my teeth into. Genre doesn't matter too much.

I read Library of Heaven's Path and felt a bit dissatisfied, not my cuppa tea, and I want something I won't regret reading 200+ chapters, at least in anguish

+1. It's a dark fantasy type novel with schemes and politics. I found the writing especially the description, speeches, quotes, and dialogue a wonderful part of this. Just check out the art and you'd like it.

Also, if you want to try something KR that isn't all dungeons, games and grinding, and want a cheap easy laugh that doesn't need too much thinking you could try Demon King & Hero, although it does spectacularly lose it's plot midway through the end and devolves even further down into crack comedy than it already was. Disclaimer: Was translator for DKH, am biased.

+1 as well, that shit is gold

but srsly it doesnt feel like chinese novel at all, it feels like japanese or neutral novel, which is a plus for me, but if what you are looking for is a novel that has chinese or korean feels but not hardcore like for example Against the God (CN) or Everyone Else is a Returnee/ Legenday Moonlight Sculptor (KR) then maybe something like I Shall Seal The Heaven (CN) since it got nice pacing, although later on it get rather hardcore but early chapter was fun and not as confusing as most cn novel, and as for KR theres plenty of good one that is easy to get into like Max Level Newbie and The Tutorial Is Too Hard

I eventually transitioned to korean novels since JP ones are somehow bland no matter what genre it is, maybe it's because of protagonist which is often oblivious or self deprecating type. Later i finally tried chinese xianxia.

Dungeon Defense, Zhanxian, were my first ones and i'd recommend both of them. ISSTH is good but needs some googling for daoist concepts, if you're not familiar with eastern religions.
