There is proof that there is no decent food in Isekai, particularly how crazy the people in Isekai get after getting "rice". Yup even the most plain thing, rice is coveted by the Isekai world... that tells you how terrible their food must be.

Overall though, since cooking manga are super popular in JP, so they now started to implement it in Isekai.

I always like main character hides his strength where they make a joke how when MC makes korean food, he things its good (due to being used to it), but the rating system rates it poorly.

    I suggest reading non-JP Isekai.

    Yeah?
That's why I said "spices" and how it would take decades to find the right combo for curry

when you're talking about curry, it remind me of one chapter in Ryouriban.
when the mc tried to make curry but failed many times. the smell of the curry he tried to make spread throughout the camp, and everyone wanted to eat it. but since it's a failed product, the mc didn't let anyone eat it.

Well, I like to say: When picking a Japanese novel to read, go by the title, pick your favorite power, and forget every single thing you've learned up till now, and enjoy.

Some give a good reason though, such as how the ingredients grow in vastly different areas of the world, or maybe people the kind of ingredients that are available makes you want to avoid it, such as using horse milk for mayonnaise. There's also the fact that sometimes the MC has legitimate ways to learn how to cook the foods, such as Smartphone, actual cooking experience that has been mentioned in the novel with a credible reason of its own (Hello Work) , or people with knowledge of random stuff that they shouldn't know (Death March).

But yes, the majority of novels do in fact not give any basis of how the main character knows how to make the food, or why it's not been created before.

I think the ingredients for curry powder is... turmeric, cumin, and something something... I only remember those two.

Yeah, I think it's unrealistic to reproduce unless you know what's going into the stuff in the first place. But it's not impossible, just stupidly hard... something that couldn't just be completed in a single or just couple chapter.

Heck, you could make an entire series just finding the way to make a curry... did I just accidentally create another Isekai plot? I call dibs on that! "Isekai Adventure: The Quest for Curry"

Okay, slave harem dungeon actually does give fairly good reasoning with hamburg steak... but doesn't explain how something just as tasty hasn't been invented

*nod nod* I've been annoyed with this time to time as well. I've only seen a small few stories where it actually makes sense. But being able to cook everything is part of being a OP jap protag.

With smartphone, it's been mentioned that they've been focusing on developing their army over entertainment. There's other reasons that I can think of, but I would just be rambling without making much sense.

Considering that they were nearly wiped out, it's not completely their fault. But yes, the countries are full of idiots.

You do know that most of these Isekai are just self-inserts?

Think about how many times the protagonist is describe as bland or average or some crap like that, that is to make it easier for the reader or author to self insert himself into his story.

Which is why the protagonist always knows everything despite his background is in consistence with what he truly should know.

Since the protagonist is basically the Author, and the Author is in our world, therefore he can control the events that could happen and research a bit on how these products are created through the Web or just ask Google-Sensei for help.

Well, considering that they're still a bunch of floating islands, I'd say that the food culture wouldn't die as food's one of the few things that has to do with the survival of humanity it self..

Well don't expect it to match our common sense, as the Japanese and their culture is truly too bizarre for common sense to exist within them or compatible with ours.

Just look at what they choose as the top 100 anime/ova/movie in history.
