You've gotta read man. Spoiler Some of his followers are pirates and some of them of devils. The others are the people living on that backwater island. All of them had killed at some point and believing in Leylin in this case saves them as he grants power to those who kill under his name. Also saviour of their souls is because he will grant their souls asylum when they die (as all gods do)
Then tell me why the Church of Murder even exists. What about the ruler of death? The ruler of the Abyss? What about all the Demons. All these evil entities have worshipers. So why are you so surprised about Leylin being able to amass worshipers by offering them a path to Life. All of these Gods would have prayers and mantras painting them to be holier than holy. Just like Leylin.
"painting them to be holier than holy" I luled. Also, as long as your god saves you (even if he/she kills others), he/she is your savior ain't it. Don't be ungrateful
I can see your point, since the locals were NOT evil like the pirates and demon worshippers, but normal people. As such for them his prayer should ring huge alarm bells. However, remember that he saved them from a plague. It is indeed ideo synchronistic for the god with the best healing being the god of slaughter and death. But the people being converted were really really desperate. As for the savior part, he saves from the plague. And at the end of the day they are warlike primitives. So, the idea of slaughtering their enemies is not too foreign
Well, it's always possible that they don't understand the meaning of the words. I mean, it's not like all of them understand the meaning of the words being taught to them, since that is being controlled by the priests and the translators.
I wonder if one can make an entirely new divine domain and ascend with it. example: X invent computer and internet in prime material plane and devote himself in the dao of shitposting. can X eventually ascend as God of shitposting? I wonder if every single divine domain are already occupied and must be snatched from the true god that preside over it?
That would be cool. Also reminds me of American God's. There were the Old God's then the New God's. The new God's being God of Credit Cards or God of Television. This novel would never go into the creation of new Domains but I would like to think it possible.
We heroicize Luffy from one piece even though he's a pirate, causes chaos in the world, and wants to become the king of pirates and overthrow the government
Pretty sure you can as long as that domain is a law. So the law of shitposting (where you gain power in shitposting) But you'd be severely weakened if you went to a world with no shitposting.
Luffy is not a pirate, he is a hero that cosplays as a pirate. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything That said, classical ancient heroes were often basically mass murderer-rapists whose "heroics" was pretty much limited to them being mighty
well, I'm just trying to understand it since some say world of God is a reference to dnd and I never play dnd. LOL
Yeah the system is from DnD. But well in the story a domain can be easily transformed into a law so... we're assuming domain = law and vice-versa. In any case, it's actually possible to have the same law/domain between gods. You just become weaker (since your believers become split)
Isn't the process of breaking through to rank 9 the act of smelting together different laws to forge your own new unique law?
Thats the peak of rank 8. Spoiler: Rank 9 Is basically the act of having your own unique path using different laws and incorporating the law of time and space in it
unless they are in the same pantheon. in which case one of them becomes weaker (capped at demigod) and is also mind controlled by the superior. While the superior does not become weaker
The weakening is what I understood from reading the raws (finished the novel). There exists a few gods with the same type of law (such as death etc). Taking all of those law back apparently makes you stronger (in the world of gods at least)
I was referring to original dnd not this novel. In this novel as far as we know it is just splitting the worshippers, and worshipper count equals power which is kinda weird since mystra is a greater goddess but wizards are super rare
As far as I remember yes. But I was more talking about creating a new domain to become a God aka. Rank 7 being. Like the Author won't add something that a mortal can use to become a new God. Like there won't be a God of technology or anything. As far as we are concerned the number of possible God's in the WoG is fixed.
