Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the Short Story Contest will have to be extended. Real life ate the cat and unfortunately we don't have any of the entries. If you have submitted an entry, please post your entry on this thread. If not, we would like to invite you to join the contest. Deadline will be on Oct 16. Judging will follow and we will announce the winners on Oct 21.

Categories

You may select any of the following categories:

1. First meetings?
There are many people who have only ever met online. What would their first, real life meeting be like? Surprise me!
If you choose to use fellow NUF members in your story, please get their permission for doing so.

2. A day in the life of [NUF member]...
Should be obvious. A slice of life category. This category will strictly require another member's permission to write about them, unless you choose to write about yourself.

3. Everything in Moderation
A tale about the joys and struggles of moderating a forum. If you choose to use fellow NUF members in your story, please get their permission for doing so. This category need not be about NUF, nor do the moderators need to be actual moderators (i.e. make yourself a moderator if you want)

Submissions
Submissions may be done by group or individually; it is up to you. Prizes will be split accordingly. All submissions will be posted in this thread, using the following template:

Scoring:
4: Excellent
3: Good
2: Fair
1: Poor
0: No Attempt

Prizes
Each of the three categories will receive a first and second place prize.
1st Place: 500 nu£
2nd Place: 250 nu£

There will also three other prizes given as well to the overall three best short stories:
1st Place: 2,000 nu£
2nd Place: 1,000 nu£
3rd Place: 500 nu£

Rules For Submission

The short stories must be your own original work.

If you do include other members in your story, please make sure to have their permission first before submission.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated.

The short stories must follow the theme categories.

Word length for submission are at 500 - 7500.

Please no troll or gag stories that don't follow the theme or can potentially upset fellow members. We are making this contest for fun and not to cause chaos.

Gag stories that follow the theme are accepted. Troll stories are not accepted at all.

No NSFW submissions.
