I want to end the comment with this but there something else I need to see.
Ever the two most merciless and smartest person of two faction can make mistake. The princess make the hugest. Well, now I can say the motive "Let Margrave live cause we can beat him again" is totally wrong. Unless you have a really good motive to let enemy general live, don't do it. You are just overstimate yourself and let your enemies know your trick and trump cards.

I personally don't feel that the speech was strong. It was too long and rambling, it did contain the all important short stretches that people can actually remember and forward to other people to spread. That speech is only logical in a time with well documented occasions since it is so long. It also has no motivating effect on their own side.

It had a clear aim and worked towards that well, don't feel it was brilliant though.

 

Note, Farnese was speaking in the human language. How do you think the humans were able to understand? The speech wasn't meant to motivate the demon's side. The goal of the speech was to purely leave an impact on humankind, to stir the desire to start an uprising within them, which in this case, seems to have indeed worked. I'm honestly not sure what 'brilliant' would be in your setting, though, unless you're going to start quoting famous philosophers.

 

My main complaint is in the length of the speech. For example a famous speech from Robespierre - 1794 is 11 paragraphs long. A modern re-enactment of another of his speeches is 5:40 long.

The speech is well written and I know what the purpose is. I just think it is too long to have maximum impact. Especially considering that it is aimed at a massive audience in a time where writing seems somewhat rare.

 

The way author subtlely left clues that will connect later on was splendid! King of the peasants? Lapis as a wife? The witches as his vessels? It was prepared in earlier chapters for this event or plan of Dantalian. It felt like Lelouche but with a different twist. Dantalian prepared a plan and marvelously executed it. From the story about the conqueror and the sage to Farnese being taught by Lapis. The clues were left but we're unaware. There were no heavily reliant on game elements or plot "luck". The author weaved a giant story to tell. This is why I absolutely love this novel. Game elements? Effectively minimal. It's to the point you forget it's a game world or a fantasy world. It suck you in as you read. I even sometimes forget while reading that Dantalian is a transferred/transported/reincarnated? person. It's makes the mind immerse the reality within the story. Most novels can't deliver this well or hardly deliver it. I'm gonna stop here to sleep but I wonder if I can sleep from excitement and anticipation.

 

Wait, are you sure your reading speed isn't the thing that's slow? I've asked several other people, and it doesn't even take 5 minutes to read it, or even say it out loud. It only seems long because several sentences were divided into several lines instead of a single one. Look at most of the commas, they continue on in the next line. The speech barely has 15 paragraphs, and 4 of those paragraphs can't be even considered as single paragraphs cause of their short lengths.

Could be the content exploded into the actual speech making it seem very long then I guess?

And yes I have a slow reading speed of around 400-500 wpm with comprehension around 80% in normal texts. Never bothered to improve it to a good level even though it would be very worthwhile.

 

Every pieces fits perfectly.

I didn't focus enought about Margrave's life story.

 

It was a great speech. It would've been better if I read it properly. Also, I am not someone who talk too long, nor listen too long, so... it was a great speech. For an average, normal, common reader.
