Nah.. judging from latest chapter, i think yi yun is going around finding special traps for them. Could be things like sentient herbs that will attack them the moment they try to pick them or special formations or a cluster of energy meant for nurturing the plants that explodes when they disturb it.

Since they went an orthodox way of testing by picking herbs instead of fighting, yi yun will just be showing off his wits and cunning abilities, causing the duo to fall out by themselves after they expend everything only to self destruct. Maybe just before they fall out, they will also bear witness to yi yun nonchalently finding and picking the 7 petal flower

Think there will be another trial after this. Here's hoping for the last trial to be a battle against fairy ningshuang as she who disregards yi yun's capabilities in the beginning seems fitting to be left in shocked over his new strengths
