Novel updates are never going to be p2r, it is their policy. But Qidian is another thing.

Well look at the bright side, NU wont allow Qidian paywall novels, thus narrowing it down to other novels to translate. I hope JP novels get more attention now, that'd be nice. Or Korean that's been on the rise lately

The day that paywall gets implemented is the day NU remove ALL qidian content from NU..
For people that want to filter all qidian novel out from the front page in the first place in NU, such days cant come any sooner..

I do remember that this was already answered by a Mod on the huge thread about Qidian.
NU will keep on being neutral and something like not posting anything hidden by a paywall.

Just move on. This topic is already been discussed.

This question has been asked and answered. According to @Tony no, if quidian goes pay to read, NU will not let them post releases here. So, no.

Right now, Wuxiaworld have these Korean novels on the site

    Acquiring Talent in a Dungeon
    Breakers
    Dragon Maken War
    Emperor of Solo Play
    Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society
    God of Crime
I'm Sorry for Being Born in This World
    Praise The Orc!
    Seoul Station's Necromancer
    The Book Eating Magician

Technically, they are copyrights infringements since Wuxiaworld does not have permission to publish them and earn ad income from them. I won't get into it because in a sense all fan translations and ad-income/donation translations without authorization is copyrights infringement of the authors. Translators/novel sites earn ad income while the authors earn nada.

    Here's what Ren (rwxwuxiaworld) wrote:

Here, let me answer the question fully and finally. The act of TRANSLATING is never illegal, due to the 'fair use' concept and other concepts. This has been held up in many cases and discussions in the past. However, the act of PUBLISHING, ie making it publicly available for others to read, is an infringement unless you have authorization.

According to google search, copyright infringement is the use of works protected by copyright law without permission, infringing certain exclusive rights granted to the copyright holder, such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the protected work, or to make derivative works.

According to this link, it comes with some hefty penalties:

    https://www.lib.purdue.edu/uco/CopyrightBasics/penalties.html

    Copyright Infringement Penalties

Copyright infringement is the act of violating any of a copyright owner’s exclusive rights granted by the federal Copyright Act. There are three elements that must be in place in order for the infringement to occur.

    1. The copyright holder must have a valid copyright.
    2. The person who is allegedly infringing must have access to the copyrighted work.
    3. The duplication of the copyrighted work must be outside the exceptions.

The legal penalties for copyright infringement are:

    1. Infringer pays the actual dollar amount of damages and profits.
    2. The law provides a range from $200 to $150,000 for each work infringed.
    3. Infringer pays for all attorneys fees and court costs.
    4. The Court can issue an injunction to stop the infringing acts.
    5. The Court can impound the illegal works.
    6. The infringer can go to jail.

So Wuxiaworld need to get authorization on them from the Korean publishers. According to translator kobatochandaisuki, it will be very difficult.

    best joke ever xD
You have 99.999999% of chance (exagerated but no) to not succeed unless you are a big corporate and ready to pay a big sum of money because first of all, korean publishers (not the authors but the publishers) don't give a fuck about who you are and what you want.

Q: I'd like to translate this cuz blablabla, etc
A: No. Copyright infrigement, we'll sue you. And we're already looking with American partners about english release (this is something pretty much all publishers said)

Q: I'd like to buy the copyright
A: blablabla and because blablabla it would be 50k$ for the copyright fee, blablabla slave contract blablabla

And most of time, even if you send them message or replies, you'll never get answers (or answers to your reply to their message) from them!
Anybody who tried talking with them should have kept bad memories only.
And the worst would be: raising their awareness. Making them even more aggressive...

In any case, the drama behind the scene is just as interesting as the drama in the novel itself. I'm a long time lurker who decided to create an account so I can discuss this issue that all translations without authorization are facing. I hope Wuxiaworld does get the licensing for the Korean novels. But if the Korean publishers refuse, it would be a mess. It also depends whether Munpia has international aspiration or not. Some Korean media companies have expanded internationally like Naver webtoons and Lezhin Comics.

Well, there's a reason why translators really don't speak about anything until the publisher is aware that the novel is being translated.

Aaaaand that's how Wuxiaworld ended up having to take up a contract for novels with Qidian. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that there wouldn't be a contract at all.

And from what I understand, Japanese publishers are usually more laid back about contracts compared to Koreans and Chinese. But I think that's only for web novels. I'm not too sure about light novels, but they should still be fairly "laid back" about the contract.

If EER translation stops I have already vowed that I will spend a year or more learning to read Korean so I can read the whole thing. Hell I'm half tempted to start learning to read Korean just so I can read it in its original language anyways.
