I used to watch a lot of Jdoramas and kdramas but have seen very few Chinese ones. Any suggestions? Please, no tragedy. Drama is fine but happy ending would be great.

Also, doesn't have to be strictly Chinese. Any Asian tv show would do except for Japanese and Korean dramas. I've seen a lot of those.

I've only watch nirvana in fire. And a few episodes of that drama based on Ze tian ji. One thing for sure, that actor who played chen changsheng and tang 36 are like a level more beautiful than the female actresses. So if you like pretty boys, then have a gander i suppose.

Just go to DramaFever.com and select one from there based on stars they have. There are a lot of good ones there.

General and I based off the novel, which people say is better. I havent read the novel, and enjoyed the drama very much.

Decoded Can be a tough (boring) watch in some episodes, but if you stick to it, it is enjoyable

    Love O2O definition of fluff

Love Me if You Dare based off the novel, great watch with good mystery and romance

When a Snail Falls in Love kind of meh, i didn't really like the filming style. Based off a novel too.

Battle of Changsha only seen a couple eps of this, but i have read really good things about it.

You Are the Apple of My Eye a movie from taiwan, really enjoyed it

Legal Mavericks drama from hong kong, still airing pretty good from what i have seen

Behind Your Smile another one which i haven't seen cause i couldn't handle how much of a jerk male lead was but if you are into that sorta thing, it could be a good watch

Welp... Reading the Character Description in the wiki spoil almost 200 chapters......

Also, I think Chinese WN is unique in that they could use Drama Scene as the scene illustration.

Taiwanese dramas are more common and are usually Idol dramas with celebrities usually singers who can't act.
For classics: Hong Kong dramas are a good shout but can compete with the revenue from Chinese dramas so their biggest stars are going to Mainland.
    Just check viki.com or dramafever

In Time With You and Pursuit of Happiness are good shouts for Taiwanese dramas. The rest I usually personally cannot stand, they feel like watching school plays

I think Hong Kong/ taiwan / mainland China have different type of dramas.
Hong Kong dramas: are not that good in my mind, it's more western actually but they always tries to make something big but always ends up with someone vs someone. A reason why I also give up on a lot of anime, the "war" or "conflict" always ends up as people shouting at each other and beats one side.
But Hong Kong dramas have interesting characters though, usually.

Taiwan dramas are usually love stories, school life kinda thing, so quite like Japanese ones actually.

Mainland Chinese ones are more...well there are love stories out there, but I think china does very well on war/politic/ancient stuff type of drama.
I think there's a subtitled drama Three Kingdom on youtube or something, pretty good one.

yea china does well with the things you mentioned. Though their romance is just bleh. Some dramas are good, but most are unbearable. Hong Kong does well with crime dramas, from what i have seen. As for taiwanese, not seen much, but romance seems to be their go to thing.
