Qi is a huge company, unlike the former GT, it doesn't have the luxury of calling itself "fan translations". So yeah, they can be sued and the case will end rather quickly because they are blatantly in the wrong.

There is a very low maybe minuscule chance of GT getting those novels back especially when the Korean publishers see the Qidian contracts. Qidians contracts are not legal outside of China due to several of the clauses being illegal.

Didn't it go along the lines...

-GT was in negotiations with multiple publishers to get licensing
-Some of those publishers wanted to invest into GT so to have a stake in the platform publishing their stories.
-GT declined the investment, continued to pursue licensing
    -GT got licensing from QI
-People discovered GT also sold 80% stake of GT to QI
-Other publishers are wary of giving publishing rights their own novels to their biggest rival, thus licensing has pretty much stalled as far as we can tell.

They had went to 17k and tried to get them to sign a contract but they declined and right after the partnership and later the buyout by Qidian popped up. More than likely they tried to take the rights including profits for the translations from the original publishers which Qidian has a bit of a history doing leading to the original founder of Qidian being removed and a current lawsuit against their parent company. Qidian is really scummy so it is not beyond them to take other publishers novels if they see an opening.

Welp.. GT wont function as well as a QI branch site anymore if they promote novels outside of QI's right?
So they decide to purge everything else in the name of "good faith".

Gravity Tails is a baited hook to get more readers and possibly other novels that do not belong to Qidian. Now the issue that will arise sooner or later is just like with all baited lines it will be reeled in and if Qidian does not have any bites it is very possible they will not cast out that line anymore. In the case of GT it would mean they will close down the site and transfer everything to Qidian since it would make no sense to keep a site that just posts the same stuff as Qidian.

Dungeon Hunter and Dimensional Sovereign have been permanently taken down. Rainbowturtle (understandably) doesn't want Gravity Tales to host it anymore because they tried to draw up an agreement with Munpia without involving her, the translator. They also refused to answer her questions citing NDA (regarding her own work LOL).

08/04/17 (August 4, 2017) was the last date of publication for Reincarnator.
Qidian shitTales has removed all pages of all Korean novels, on August 13, 2017.
As per the 3-month rule, can we request for Reincarnator to be picked up by another translator/site after November 4, 2017 ???

are there more sites that colude with Qidian? i keep reading on GT but i dont see a need to donate to translators that are hired by a big company.

I'ma lock this thread cause yeh...let me explain some things.

This is not because QI doesn't want KR novels on GT.

It has to do with obtaining licenses from Munpia for the KR novels, so GT has taken down the novels. <=that is the reason publically given, and it's better dealing with any fallout with the publishers when you don't have their stuff on your site.

Taking into consideration the long time it's taking for the deal with Munpia and 17K seem to be taking, there is a possibility that being owned by Chinese Reading (the company that is technically higher up in the hierarchy than QI) could have thrown a wrench into negotiations but that is purely speculation.

QI does not own GT. GT is owned by a different organization which is owned by the same father company as Qidian and Qidian International.

Dungeon Hunter and Dimension Sovereign are not returning to GT because Rainbow Turtle did not like not being informed about the ongoing negotiations with Munpia for her novels.

That should resolve most questions here as well as some...misunderstands.

yeh. though if and when GT gets the licensed, those tl'ers are opening up the possibility to get DMCA'ed.

Collude? Well, Noodletown, TranslationNation, and a few others have translators that work for QI. Though if they do, their novels are first on QI and then on their own site, so it doesn't really matter.
