    I love mecha, but a friend of mine usually avoids anything with mecha because of the previous mecha series were extremely angsty. Such as gundam wing, gundam seed, gundam 00, and others.

    Mechas cool even thofu the only mecha anime I've seen are
    Code guess ,Curran lagga and a bit of gundam.

    As long as I see sparks and metal fragments flying all over the place when two hulking mass of metal collide, I am ok with it.

    Mecha is a way of reducing a cast down to minimum numbers. A story doesn't need an army if you can represent that army with one mech. That's an inherent reduction in the number of possibilities that the story can take so the story starts with a disadvantage. That's not to say that Mecha is inherently bad, just that it gives itself fewer possibilities. That's especially the case where they retread tired storylines with each iteration, such as the gundam franchise

    The only good Mecha I've ever read was Skyfire Avenue and that's only because it isn't the main focus.

    Nearly all the Mecha I read or watch have the dragonball problem.
    They want to be stronger so they all of a sudden are, random ass power ups or abilities.

    Mechas that aren't Mechas, meaning they are somehow living giving an enormous advantage for the MC or the Mecha the MC is using is some super BA unique Mecha that's unrivalled.
    I just hate that shit and nearly all of them are riddled with it.
