She is so strong! "Y-yes, I'm Samuel. A ser-" No, that's not right.

"A follo-" That's not it either...

"Tene's henchmen..." I say with slightly teary eyes. Why is everyone Tene knows so strong...

No, this isn't the right time to be scared. I hope. "Yes, let's follow him, he might need help. I will support you!"

Having somewhat steeled my resolve, I start running after Tene, baiting the spiders I meet to explode on phantoms of myself and fending off the other enemies we meet with my spear, creating opportunities for Presia to attack them as often as I can. I hope I'm not dragging her down...

PoV Tene​

Noticing more ravens in the sky and a group of goblins a bit further ahead, I transform my mouth into something resembling the gun, turning my teeth into now poisonous projectiles in order to save mana, and accurately shoot them at the group of goblins before me, while also losing most of the remaining resemblance I had to a human. Although I tried to make the poison especially effective against goblins, they manage to remain standing for about a dozen of seconds before collapsing, revealing a beaten up door they had been trying to break down.

Without hesitation, I transform my previous mouth into something I can unlock the door with and promptly open it, only to be greeted with a scream, a plate thrown at my 'face', and a shout: "Monster!" Well, I should have expected this. I return my appearance to my original one and try to convince them that I am here to help them, but the change seems to cause them fear more than anything.

"This might hurt a bit..." Having said that, I ignore the struggles of the couple and grab them both by their hands. A quick pulse of mana focused on the port and temple reveals some free space within the port and that the teleport gate is being attacked by half-orcs. This will use a lot of mana... using the fourth dimension as a shortcut, I transport the couple to the port while shielding their senses with mana to prevent any sort of unwanted consequences it might have and drop a transformed hand of me in the middle of the half-orcs, which will, when hitting the ground, open up without as much as a sound and release some paralytic poison in a gaseous form, incapacitating a big chunk of the half-orcs.

With everything of that done, I just collapse for a while, everything part of my body except my core disintegrating.

Traveling through the forest by way of treetop branches may have seemed safer at the start but for someone who wasn't used to do this, it was really a haphazardous way to travel. Add the fact that most, if not all, the branches had moss on them, I was always in danger of slipping and plummetting to the ground.. At the very least, I could use Specter Guard in case I fell. To even have the thought to use that skill was bringing home the fact that I was not in my element up in the trees.

On the upside, no pun intended, the view from this high was ideal in judging the situation on the ground. True, the black mist reached even to this point but not so much that I couldn't see what was happening below and what I saw made me frown. The creatures had no fixed habit so that meant they weren't being used as scouts by somebody. They were sporadic and unpredictable which added to the piling difficulties ahead.

With me completely focused on the view below, I left the navigation of where to go on the will-o'-the-wisp. After a bit of time, I decided to stop for a while to get my bearings back. I had been running and dodging so long that my mind was quite fatigued at this point. Thanks to the kumihimo charm, my body could still go on. My mental aptitude though needed some rest.

Having nothing else to do besides watch the creatures on the ground, I decided to have a little chat with my companion. "I've been meaning to ask this but is there a way for you to help me hide my presence from my enemies?" I felt the surprise before it answered.

I'm not meant to hide people.

"I know. You help guide them when they're lost. However, on some occasions, don't you lead them away from danger as well?"

What do you have in mind, exactly?

"They've been doing their best to keep me lost. I'm sure I'm not the only person in this forest who's having this predicament. My question is, can you do the same to them?"

Get them lost?

"Not lost exactly. Just divert them away."

There was a pause.

It might be possible but I'm only one Ignis Fatuus. It will be a momentary diversion at best.

"That's not a problem."

I also won't be able to do it often. The land is too corrupted. I feel severed from the land.

The choice of words made me hesitate. "Will you be fine?"

I don't know.

The answer was so desolate I felt bad for asking. Before I could even inquire more, it continued to speak in my mind.

The Ignis Fatuus are spirits of the land. Each one of my kind that reside here hold the memories of this forest. If all of them fall, the forest won't return to how it was. It can remain as woodlands but it won't be the same. It will be a dark existence that will encourage evil creatures to reside. This black miasma is not only corrupting the land, it is slowly killing what it was.

"You can't choose to leave?"

It would be akin to asking your soul to leave your vessel.

I stopped asking after that. We resumed the trek and made sure to stay vigilant. Still, at the back of my mind, I felt a renewed sense of anger and I knew it was my own emotion and not the will-o'-the wisp's. There was a new level of realization that was making me so furious. There was so many at stake and yet, I saw no rhyme or reason for what was happening in this forest. How dare they? What was worse was, whoever or whatever did it, started from the heart of Verdant. How cruel was that?

Came the quiet voice of the will-o'-the-wisp. It took a moment before I understood what it was thankful for. My companion was happy that I was angry for its sake. I didn't bother replying and we both remained silent as carefully moved through the treetops.

Rhialla had managed to implement her plan of drawing enemies in several times now, with roughly 1000 enemies either incapacitated or burnt to a crisp. As well as dealing with the enemies, she had managed to escort about 648 civilians to the Temple.

The Guild ordered Eternal Daughter to escort the civilians. That is what Eternal Daughter should keep doing.

A Corrupted Snake slithered its way towards her as she stood sighing about the situation. Unfortunately for the snake, a dart charged with electricity fired into its head, killing it in one swift move, before being burned to a crisp by the heat of the electricity running through its body.

Picking up the now silent dart, she put it back into her item box before looking at the sky once more.

Those spiders are really annoying...can't they at least explode in unison?

Moving to a dark corner, not easily seen from the street, Rhialla sits down and closes her eyes, going into deep meditation.

[Aeternus]

 

“Tch! There’s no end to them!”

A shout full of anger resounded at the top of the airship deck. On it, one could see the figure of the fully armed Guildmaster with his family and retainer. While Shadow never stopped releasing barrage of bolts from his crossbow, both Erdatiel and Chalusi also has never stopped shooting arrow after arrow from their customized compound bow. Not far from them, Pyrhea, the humanoid firebird, has been constantly releasing fire spell after fire spell non-stop while flying slightly above Arkley that was busy using his omnidirectional crossbow to clear the deck of the flying monster.

“Arkley! Give me report on the situation!”

“Our ammunition is still sufficient, Master Shadow. But at this rate, we might run out of them if we don’t do something else.”

“Tch! Damn it all!” Shadow then released a barrage of explosive bolts that exploded immediately at a cluster of raven and spiders on the sky. “How about the evacuation?”

“The progress is quite slow, Master Shadow. Especially the one in the residential area. Our force is too preoccupied keeping the enemy at bay to execute a proper evacuation.”

“Oh, just great. Just damn great!” And with that last shout, another explosion happened near a group of flying monster.

“If only we can support them,” said Erdatiel while finishing a group of raven with a single shot.

“Can Milord do something about it?” asked Chalusi as she slays a few spider that was about to close by with her tail. “Like a diversion?”

“Like hell I can do that! The most I can do is just stopped them for a bit.”

“Then let’s do that!” shouted Erdatiel to him. “At least we can let the other to carry the civilian away from the dangerous area.”

Hearing that, Shadow just stood in silence while his hand never stopped dealing with any enemy that tried to get near the ship.

“Fine, let’s try that. Pyrhea! Get down from there and hold onto Arkley!”

“Y-Yes, Master!”

Immediately after that, the firebird girl landed on Arkley and held onto his metal carapace like her life depends on it.

“Erd, Chalusi, hold on to something!”

“Okay!”

“Y-Yes, Milord!”

The two near him quickly reached to the nearest railing and grabbed it firmly. Chalusi even secured her tail onto one of the railings too.

“Arkley! Activate the shield! And get this ship higher! Fast!”

“As you wish, Master Shadow.”

After doing his trademark mandible clapping, Arkley controlled the airship to activate the shield generator, enveloping the whole ship with a slightly translucent layer of mana shield. Then the sound of engine roared as the airship started to gain altitude at a rather fast pace. In a few second, the airship has reached the altitude that the raven can’t reach, way above Aeternus highest point. The few that were still trying to do that was shot down by the airship automated defense system.

“Load the cannons with scatter grenades. Aimed at the most condensed part of the enemy. For the ballistas, load them with net bolts. Aimed at the one near Aeternus.”

“As you wished, Master Shadow. It will be ready in 10 seconds.”

“Make that 5 seconds.”

After saying that, he pulled out his mana shooter and also a couple of mana generator. He hooked them up with a few of them, powering the mana shooter with several canisters of mana crystal at the same time.

“Erd, Chalusi, Pyrhea, go to the back of the ship and snipe any flying monster you can. Prioritize the one that is nearing the city.”

The three nodded and then they quickly get to their position.

“The cannons and ballistas are ready, Master Shadow.”

“Commence barrage! Now!”

The roar of cannons and ballistas resounded in the air as the airship weapon system attacked the cloud of spider carrying raven at the distance while also hitting any gryphon that is unfortunate enough to be near them.

While the airship weaponry deal with the far away enemies, Shadow focus on the one near the vicinity of the city, sniping them from the top of the deck. In the middle of sniping some orcs and goblins on the city, he snapped his finger, in which a small spider came near him.

“ALL PERSONNEL! FOCUS ON EVACUATING! I REPEAT! FOCUS ON EVACUATING! WE WILL GIVE AIR SUPPORT!”

Some net will capture the raven and spider. Arrow and mana bullet will snipe occasional enemy at random. Large explosions at the sky at the direction of the enemy force.

 

After resting for an hour, an announcement could be heard from high above the city:
“ALL PERSONNEL! FOCUS ON EVACUATING! I REPEAT! FOCUS ON EVACUATING! WE WILL GIVE AIR SUPPORT!”
*sigh*
Opening her eyes, Rhialla looked to the sky and mumbled to herself:
"As if I hadn't already been evacuating people..."
Getting up from her meditating position, she looked towards the source of the announcement, before using wind magic to lighten her body and then jumping onto a nearby roof. Surveying her surroundings, she could see that the airborne enemies were being dealt with en masse, with nets catching the ravens, and gryphons being sniped as well.
Well, it seems like our Guild Master has the enemies under control for a bit.
It does...such explosive power...

Well, standing here gawking at it won't complete our mission! Fifna, link with me so I can detect all nearby civilians!
At once, Eternal Daughter!
Linking with her pact-spirit, a constant breeze blew through her flowing dress and locks as she located each and every nearby civilian.
"So 2041 civilians to evacuate in our area! Let's get to it, then!"
Leaping from rooftop to rooftop, Rhialla gathered up the civilians and directed them to the Temple. using wind and nature magic to both control the civilians, as well as make them move faster, she moved non-stop as she hastily, but surely, escorted each person to their intended destination.

After about an hour of doing this, she had managed to evacuate 76 people.
*sigh*
We're moving too slowly.
Unfortunately, Eternal Daughter is right...
That's it! I can't stand this slow progress anymore!
Eh? Eternal Daughter!?!
Jumping high into the air, Rhialla used wind magic to keep her airborne, before she activated her nature magic, releasing a scent that permeated the air within her chosen range of evacuees. Using her wind magic to keep this scent contained, she controlled each and every civilian within the magic and had them all move down the safest routes to the Temple.

After roughly 10 minutes had passed, she could detect that about 854 civilians had made it to the Temple with no harm having come to them.
"Hah...hah...hah..."
Out of breath from exerting so much magic on so many people, she drank another Mana potion before resuming her work.
"Hah...if this hah...isn't hah...focussing hah...on evacuating hah...then hah..I will hah...be sure to...voice my...complaints..."
Moving closer to an area with civilians in, she continued using her magic to evacuate them.

Wow ! Children in my pumpkin basket were happy when they saw so many explosions. But my mind was concentrated on the words behind them. I heard the Guildmaster. I guess this cat still need to run a little more. That little girl which I saved in the bakery still in my pumpkin. Well at least many this ravens died , so I have a plenty of meat. I am E rank so I will what I can do. I saw bodies of many people.
- Let me take your place Eri. This will be much easier. - I heard a familiar voice inside my head.
- shut up Insanity - I gnashed my teeth.
Kitty , hurt? - little girl asked me with worry.
No kitty is strong, child - are you alright?
Yes , children is all alright. I am biggest here so I am watching over them.
This girl is sure a big help. She knows town , so I am using shortest ways to transport children back to the temple. I don't know how many we saved? 20 - 30?
I looked up , sky still filled with fire. We still have time.
I looked at my back on the giant pumpkin. Inside were 7 children. I guess they are last.When I jumped on one of the roofs i heard a sound.
Damn spiders!!!! It was a trap. I was caught in explosion , I retracted spikes so the pumpkin won't be in the area of explosion. Moreover I sent three spikes to pin down it to the wall. My skin was burning , at least I survived , thanks to under skin armor. All spiders detonated , they used everything for trying to kill me. I bit my own tongue to wake up. I need time to regenerate but I need to move. I took the pumpkin on her old place.

-Yes we are alright.
I run back to the temple. I was hiding from strong enemies so road took more time.But when I placed pumpkin on the ground I found out that it was too quiet inside. When i opened her i saw the reason . That little girl , she leaned back to the pumpkin wall with closed eyes. On her clothes was a blood near the stomach. Other kids were in silence:
She told us to stay quiet.
I took the fragile body of young girl on my arms. I did not hear anything i just was looking at her.I lay down near the temple with her .I started to purr ,there was a tears on my eyes.

I came back after succeeding my mission and reporting it obviously but now there's damn trouble, I looked at Liya who usually likes to keep informations to himself, so he can make a deal with me... wait isn't he supposed to be my friend ? I guess.

"What happenning's"

After Liya resumed the situation, I just said casually.

"So it's either saving stray children or killing ?"
[That's... some way to put it but frankly, yes. As an Rank E Adventurer, you mu-]
"Let's just go to the Verdant Forest, we may be able to save some stray kids and kill the surrounding monsters."

My voice was unexpectly serious, he knew this tone, he sighed and said while leading the way even though I'm the one who is supposed to lead, his tone was as firm as mine... maybe not for the same reason but as long as we go together we should be alright.

After around one hour, we found the forest who became expectly darker than usual, the green became almost dark, there's butterfly flying above us, ignoring us completely since we are obviously... sneaking, attacking from the inside is probably the most pratical way to fight.
Entering the forest, we fastly noticed that... we couldn't even see from where we entered.

"Illusions of course, otherwise it's not fun."
[...Again...]
"Eheh, so those bastards want to confuse us obviously."
[Why are you even saying it ?]
"Because currently there's..."

A few Mutated Moonlight Butterflies became visible at my words, surrounding us who were on the ground, we couldn't help but become blind at their spores, the destroyed brushwood, the cracked pieces of branches, the empty tree, I can still remember what I was supposed to see while I used a certain magic.

"<Dead Alive Link> "

Necromancy can be used on both of us for a specific reason so we can guess about how much we are near to death, our rough positions, so we can support each other in case... normally it's just a unused magic because the one who got linked can feel it.
But not in party I can guess, but since necromancers don't have a good reputation, not a lot of people know about this.

Seeing nothing except black, I jumped about ten feet and slashed about the living creature emitting magic or one kind of strange aura, like I though, one of them fall.

"Good at tricking people but weak"
[Thank you sincerely... I was worried.]

This idiot actually didn't moved an inch since he didn't know the ennemy's stenght.

"Turn around 60° at your right, jump about eleven or twelve and hit"

Giving each others commands since we can't see and don't know if we may jump at the same enemy, we're just respectively choosing our targets, you may say. It might difficult if you are not used to it... there can also be tree on our trajectory however we just have to turn around it or support ourselves on it and gives each others command base on his and my position.

"Seven feet under me, jump in front of you for around three meter and hit"

"Turn around, go to the tree, and wait for the enemy at your right side to ambush you so you can kill him by hitting bluntly on him."

After killing unexpectly a dozen of Moonlight Butterfly, we were still blind, we came to each other, and I said, saving up the most mana we can.

"Don't unblind us, we will go to the zone where the mana is denser, alright ?"
[No need to detoxify ?]
"Of course, do you think this shabby poison can hurt me."

Since we are talking about that, I'm just a bit faking to be honest, the poison is not as strong as Mutation about five times weaker, but the amount may be dangerous if others Butterflies come.
Considering that he has no complaint, we began to walk toward where the mana is denser so we can be more useful, healing, saving and protecting are not at all our privileged domains.

Ezero is what Aime called me. Aime is like Ezero's auntie since she was created by my creator's father. While Ezero is made by the daughter which is my mother or creator. Thought Ezero was made earlier about 5 years, so it is weird that Aime is my auntie when Ezero's older. Ezero can't really comprehend human relationship. But shouldn't think too much and focus on the objective at hand.

Ezero is now transporting 5 tiny human, 2 female and 3 male with one wounded to the Temple. Can't help the wounded male since Ezero had no medical kit. Aime doesn't need a medical kit so didn't prepared one. Now Ezero felt bad for the wounded male, so played a pretty melody to ease the pain.

Current location is just 10.256 meters towards the Temple or Guild Headquarters. Ezero's control room is crowded. The tiny humans are playing too much and produced many sounds Ezero can't comprehend. A.I. system is too low tech for communication and Ezero also don't know this world's speech. Since this is the first-time Ezero awaken from this world and updates are still on-going.

Earlier, Ezero walked on the main road where the road has no plants. Ezero like plants especially pretty flowers. It was because mother like taking care of plants. Since then Ezero like plants since it is her favorite.

Some small spider latch to Ezero's body. Mother doesn't like spiders at all. She would scream loudly jumping and ask for Ezero to deal with it. Flamethrowers are the best when killing spiders, they burn to a crisp and made mother happy. But Ezero doesn't want to use it since Ezero doesn't want to harm pretty plants. The spiders explode on contact to Ezero's body. But no effect on Ezero's body, very happy.

Ezero sees a pretty flowers on the road, conflicted on how to pass. Decide to take a large leaped made the humans screamed.

Children played too much, accidentally push a button. Missiles flew outside, Ezero quickly tried to change coordinates of said missiles. Hit a green weird group of the creature just ahead of us. Poor green creatures, Ezero is sad but noticed some survivors ahead. Humans around 8 of them, full of dust from the explosion. The human thank Ezero for saving them. But Ezero didn't save them though, glad to help even so. Bowed downwards to accept gratitude, one male on my shoulder complained as they latch to my shoulder to not fall. Ezero gave a sad beep and continued walking to the destination. But waving the robotic hand for the humans to follow.

Ezero is marching with a lot of people now, was fun just like a parade. Confused cause got called golem, but Ezero is a mech. Ezero noticed a flock of birds above the sky flying with high radiation. Some blackbirds carry spiders on the back which has said radiation. Ezero identified this as hostile enemies. Pointed the assault rifle against raven with spiders. Explosion in the distance, the humans cheered.

Ezero sees humans attacked by those green tiny pointed eared creatures. Those creatures are bad guys and Ezero tried to stop them with a loud beep. They headed towards Ezero instead waving their tiny weapon. Fired to them since the male on shoulder keeps pointing and shouting, also saved some humans while at it. Ezero felt accomplish, want Aime to say Ezero did a good job.

Since tiny green creatures are an enemy, Ezero fired at will.
More raven and spiders but no bullets. Suddenly.....

“ALL PERSONNEL! FOCUS ON EVACUATING! I REPEAT! FOCUS ON EVACUATING! WE WILL GIVE AIR SUPPORT!”

A loud voice from somewhere, some net appeared to capture the spiders and raven. Ezero is puzzled but continued walking forward anyway. Close to the temple, since some creatures got hit by arrow and bullets. Humans following me cheered and look happy, made Ezero happy. Multiple explosion in the sky, just like fireworks. Felt like in festival, Ezero beeps happily.

Ezero finally reached Temple and Guild headquarter. Let the human safely outside Ezero's body. Small human hugged to Ezero's hand. Humans give thanks and Ezero bowed.

Ezero look to the place see humans from distance running towards Temple.
Now currently helping on carrying wounded, old and tiny humans toward the temple.
Ezero is now busy assisting humans in the vicinity but happy to help.

Two hours in and Rhialla had successfully escorted all 2041 civilians in the area to the Temple.

Eternal Daughter has been sighing a lot today.
Of course I have! There's no end to these enemies and the stupid humans can't figure out in their tiny minds that they need to stay calm and go to the Temple!
Well, they're obviously not educated like Eternal Daughter is~

This one feels it must correct Eternal Daughter on this matter. There are not only humans living in Aeternus, but a conglomeration of many different species and races.
Telva...anyone who can't figure out that, during a time of danger, it is best to keep a cool head and move to the safest location in an orderly manner, is stupid. Look at how many idiots I've had to help evacuate already!
Eternal Daughter, these 'idiots' as you call them have no fighting experience or training in these matters. They are ordinary people who have probably never even seen a hostile creature in their lives. Be more understanding, please.
Telva...you really give them too much credit...you haven't seen the idiocy that This one and Eternal Daughter have witnessed...why, there was that time when Eternal Daughter was still at the 'Facility' that--

Stopping her internal conversation with her pact-spirits, she moved to another part of the Residential District, since the current area had no more civilians in it.

After roughly half an hour of walking to the next location, Rhialla found an abandoned house and chose to rest for a while to recover her strength once more - drinking a Mana potion once more, before meditating.
*sigh*
Why did so many idiots choose to live here? They should have been informed of where to go in case of emergencies...

Walking quietly in the forest, we met some trouble... no not exactly trouble... no I mean yes, trouble, it's actually something I didn't expect. First, how can it be still alive there ? No seriously, I mean... he is even loudly sleeping.

He seemed to be pondering on a question without responses, it's kinda stupid to see him faking thinking.
I sighed, and poked his head, still blind.

And his body disappeared.

Right now, I don't want to honestly know what he means, if that's really what I don't want to believe, I think it's going to be real troublesome if this is going to stir our mind.

I couldn't help but let out a curse, is this how they are manipulating people ? Probably, so only emotionless and determined people may be able to resist it except if their mind are somehow protected by some kind of magics, energy or existence.
It might not have an effect on some, however...

But if they want to guide people, they will need to entice them, control their mind not... Hikari saw Lei... Uhn... Ah! It was Lea-chan!

Hikari saw Lea-chan get motivated and started helping other people... Right... Hikari can't stay still doing nothing either... But what then...? Hikari can't... Ah! Hikari can! Hikari just... Needs sacrifices... Yosh, Hikari has a way of interfering then!

Hikari flew up a bit and looked at the surroundings, there were many many battles happening all over the place, but... Where can Hikari go that she can easily get sacrifices... Needs lots of people with their belongings and in need of help... Ah! The port!

There were a lot of griffons attacking the port, they were trying to destroy the airships, Hikari could see lots of fire going from the big airship in the sky on the enemies near it, but the fires can't hit there out of fear of damaging the airships... Ah! An airships is falling!!!

Hikari sacrificed her divine energy and made a gap between her position and the falling airship, instantly getting there.

"Whoa!?"

"Wha-what is-!?"

"Sacrifices! Offer sacrifices for Hikari!"

"Sa-say what? Wa-wait, Hikari? The-"

"There is no time! The ship is falling! Hikari can't do anything without sacrifices! Anything works, the more precious to you the better! HIkari can fix the ship like this!"

"Pre-precious? Li-like gold!?"

"Not gold! Something very precious to you!"

A man got a pingent on his neck. "It's the last gift my daughter gave me before dying... Can you save us?"

Hikari felt the offering, it was big... Yosh!

The pingent disappeared and the ship started fixing itself, a strange loud noise that Hikari didn't quite recognize resounded, the falling speed decreased, but it was still falling.

"Ugh... Not enough... Hikari needs another one... One more is probably enough..."

"Ca-can't you just do it yourself!?"

"Hikari can't interfere! Hikari wishes to help, but Hikari can't! Hikari can only grant boons according to the sacrifices she receives!"

"Curses... Here, my wedding ring!"

Hikari felt another sacrifice, but... "This-this has no value..."

A gryphon hit the airship.

The miniature disappeared and Hikari raised her hands, rays of light rose from the ground and started piercing all the nearby gryphons attacking this airship and the surrounding ones.

"Amazing..."

"It was... It was the biggest sacrifice Hikari received today..." *fidgets*

The other men looked at the one that gave the miniature up...

Leaving Aeternus through the Airships.

@Kuma Desu I should've killed most gryphons now! Though you might still want to kill one or two, so I just said majority instead of all!

 

After having meditated for a good half hour, Rhialla got up and went through the motions she was, sadly, used to by now. With the air support keeping the enemies busy, she knew she didn't have to worry that much about airborne attacks. The only thing that concerned her was those on the ground. Sensing many hostiles within the vicinity, she couldn't help but sigh once more.
*sigh*
Seeing groups of Contaminated Half-Orcs all around, chasing and killing civilians and adventurers alike, she altered her spell to first incapacitate all ground hostiles. It seemed that Corrupted snakes and Corrupted Goblins were also among the enemies, but Rhialla didn't care. She had lost her patience with this evacuation task, and so just made them all fall asleep. After that, she expertly sent fire balls to all of them, except the half-orcs, and burned them to a crisp before leaving naught but ashes in their stead.
So vicious and unfeeling in Dark Mistress' actions~ This one likes it~
Darva, why have you come out?
Heheheh, This one thought to help gather the enemies in one place to make Dark Mistress' task easier to perform~

Central of Aeternus

My name is Carl, and I am a sentinel of Aeternus working under the [Silver Sentinels] one of the 3 pillars which control Aeternus together with the [Adventurers Guild] and the [Main Temple].
I am responsible for the highest tower on the city localizated on the headquarters of the order, and that isn't different even today...

Carl: "Stop lazing around! Take those fuckers down!"

Soldier: "B-but Captain there are too many of them..."

Carl: "I said now!"
"Archers! Forgot the Griffins! You won't take them down with normal arrows! Focus on the Ravens!"

"Willian! Take 15 soldiers and bring more arrows!"

Willian: "Ayee, sir!"

Carl: "Scoults keep looking at the horizon! Keep track on how many of these fuckers are and their movements!"

*BOoommm*
Suddenly a powerful explosion happened and everything shook
And screams came from the right side of the tower.
Unknown: "Aaaaaaalllllll!!!"
Unknown 2: "shit shit shit!"

Carl: "Goddamnt! Ray! What the hell happened!?"

While pulling Arr out of the border Ray answered
Ray: "Fuck! That damn Pidgey threw itself on the tower while carrying many spiders!..."
After stopping a bit to breath he continued
"... Arr got caught on the explosion and had his arm blown off... What the hell are these fucking mages doing with the Barrier!?"

Carl: "fuck! Arc! Call t-"

While nodding a bit I look around and see the uncertain on my men's eyes... I take a breath and start to scream again.
Carl: "what you guys are doing?! Do you know why we are here?! I will tell you!"
"This is Aeternus tallest watch tower! We have the responsibility to scout the enemies forces! To watch their movements! And report them! The ones bellow depend on us! Of our information to properly prepared the defense! Fuck if we are on the most dangerous place with all those birds around!"
"It's OUR families down there! So stop whining an-"

Brian: "Captain! You should-"
Carl: "Fuck Brian! Don't interrupt me when I am giving a fucking speech!"

With an annoyed face and grumbling I Walk till the border of the tower...

A massive flock of Ravens carrying many suicide spiders is arriving on Aeternus, from the north direction, their objective is reaching the Maintenance Area. Stop them before they reach their objective.

The first area which will have contact with the flock will be Residential Area. They will reach in about 5 Posts.
Prepare yourselves.



Verdant Forest

A mass of darkness covers the forest like a pitch black fog, it covers the view of all who enters it....
Maybe that is why they didn't noticed...
Things lurking inside the fog, or maybe they are part of the fog itself?....

But suddenly the black fog starts to stir...
The mist churns like it's a living being.
What can only be described as distorted black hands reach towards the living...

The hands grab the men and pull them inside the fog... And only the scream at distance can be listen....

Strange hands come out of the black mist and try to grab anyone inside.

Aeternus Gates

Inside a room filled with people shouting and going from left to the right, a woman with a Stern gaze, a stud armor and a tower shield is shouting orders.

Silverguard: "Prepare the shields and form a line of defense in front of the arch which leads towards the gates!"
"Krudark, assume the control of the troops I will be going in site"

The woman remove her sword from the sheath and easily take the giant shield with one hand.

Silverguard: "I won't let things go like that again...."
She mutters towards herself as lightening covers her sword...

OOC: [SITUATION CHANGE] - Area: Aeternus Teleport gates
The sentinels made defensive line protecting against the Half-Orcs horde which is going there.

Long Ranged Fighters can fight while behind the wall of shields.

The Leader of the Sentinels - Solistiere Silverguard a Knight with can wield thunder has joined the battle
Thunder will fall over the battlefield.

Melee fighters have to pay attention against the Thunders unless they stay close to the shield wall.

[SUB-QUEST] - Area: Aeternus Teleport gates
An horde of half orcs are heading towards the Teleport Gates join the Sentinels and stop them.

 

In one of the streets of the residential district, black and green bodies line up the street. Their bodies rest peacefully as the scent of lavender fills the air. As if that wind that carried the air was sentient it didn't go pass the perimeter of a certain Florist's home. All the nearby civilians had already cleared out and arrived at the Temple...not that they would collapse from the scent...Peony made sure her neighbours created an immunity to her flowers. It wouldn't do to have them drop like Ravens when she is just borrowing sugar right?

"Eiii em tiiiired." A mournful sigh fills the air and a more sharp scent joins the flowers.

"ooops...iin't meen dat." The scent withdraws but the sigh remains.

Peony was still stuck under the pile of goblins. She didn't want the elementals to help her because it wasn't safe and she didn't have the energy to ask them to go guard the fields...better to stay somewhere safe. They weren't....combat ready. Yes let's go with that. Hikari...I do miss everyone but at least I'm not lonely!

She starts getting slightly delirious and hums a lullaby to entertain herself. It wasn't like something would shoot from the sky and solve her predicament. This wasn't some fantasy land where...wait...

"Isssff antasy..."

The sky lights up and rains down around Peony, in a flash of light the enemy is burnt down to return to the dirt. Coughing is heard from under the dust, which is cleared away immediately to reveal a slightly grey Peony. Peony the Adventurer!

"No *cough cough* this adventuring business really isn't fun. But at least I saw something cool!" Her eyes shine brightly as she stares up at the sky. She didn't know that the sky of Aeternus rained burning lights as well! That certainly came at the right time...she was getting bored stuck under the goblins. This way she could...alright she would pay this kindness with motivation!

She gestures to the elementals peering out from her home and they scramble to comply. The door to her home bursts open and a wind elemental is pushed out with the door slamming quickly behind it...her.

Paying the others no mind the wind elemental twirls around the pink haired florist, she creates a small whirlwind to get rid of the dust. Peony spins around dizzily before smiling up at...Windy and pointing towards a random direction.

"Let's go help evacuate civilians from there!"

With the help of Windy, Peony arrives at the...oh it's the Recreational District! So Peony arrives at that place and starts helping direct the civilians towards the Temple.

One of those such civilians pat her on the head as she pushes them towards safety. Every now and then, greeting and remarks were thrown at her as she busily helps out. She would smile brightly at the speaker when there was time but the majority of it flew over her head.

"You finally decided to join Peony?"

"My my, Adventurer Peony? I didn't think I'll see the day you decided to actually focus on something other than plants..."

"Waaa mother it's the flower girl! Can I go ov-" This was muffled as the mother picks up her child with embarrassment and flees towards the Temple.

"Don't say that Rick! Peony won't give up on tracking you down if you ask her for flowers!"

"But moooother! Peony gave them to me before! She even said they weren't toxic! So when it's explained that way-"

The eavesdroppers all did a collective sweatdrop at his statement. It would have been less suspicious if the florist didn't say anything...when she explicitly says it out loud...something was definitely not right.

Without paying the chatter much mind Peony pushes against the stragglers and makes sure they at least get to the perimeter of the Temple before turning her back. It was sort of distracting with the ongoing explosions and occasional scream but she made it work. After checking that the coast was clear, she indicated to Windy and they went deeper into the recreational district. On her way she passed a lot of rubble and...a broken wall of ice? Alright then...the recreational district had the oddest things.

"Can't beat our Agricultural District!"

At her scoff, Windy nudges the flower in reminder and pushes her towards their destination. The Pottery.

Peony's eyes light up as she sees the pots all lined up on the selves. Clay lay unattended and it is just what she needed.

"It's just perfect!"

<Jin Vodka's POV>​

"How weak...." Jin looking disappointed was standing still on top a burnt mole. Its body was full of burns and wounds as it tries it hardest to move. The flames in its body are still burning brightly but weirdly enough it is not spreading.

"Stay down, did I tell you that you can move?" Jin expresses his displeasure as he pushes down the mole head to the ground with great force creating a crack to the ground.

The mole can dig to the ground but sadly it's hand are torn apart. Earlier Jin found the mole quite as it keeps digging on the ground as for keep dodging his flame spear. With great anger, Jin rushed downward as he let himself get hit by the claw. He then immediately dodges it as he moves sideways and grabs the arm. As his eyes glowed red, he pulled the mole's arm apart spurting a large of blood covering half of Jin's body.

Jin didn't want the mole to die easily since it annoyed him. So he burned the wound to close it up. He then proceeds to rip the other arm apart also burning it up.

As it unable to move and squirm on the ground. Jin creates flame spears and magma spears grazing the body part of the mole torturing it slowly.

........

Now Jin is covered with blood notices a tremor on the ground.
Multiple moles appear as the surround him and raise their claw towards him.

"Tche, more pest..." Jin clicks his tongue as he flew high above the sky. He gets angrier since someone interferes his meal. Even didn't care anymore, since he was alone in that area. He raises hand above a to create a large magic circle encompassing the whole area. A large red-orange magic with circle appears in the sky as it glows brightly.

Spoiler: For visual it looks cool

"[Rain of Flames]" Jin chanted as he brings his right hand downwards to the ground.

Small droplets of flames fall down to the ground. As it touches the forest, for some reason as it touches the plants or ground it would only leave a small burnt mark before disappearing.

But it was different to those who have souls. Since the area covered was the dark mist only corrupted monsters are in that area. As the droplets of embers touch the corrupted monsters. A strong burst of flames encompassing them as they slowly tortured to death. Multiple screams are heard in that place as the monsters burned.

The magic circle slowly disappears, Jin stood still looking at the burning monsters. The moles below him have already hide underneath the ground so they were saved from the embers of flames.

"Pest...." Jin slowly follows one of the moles with his senses. He then falls down at a sonic speed towards the mole underground. As he passes by his flames kill a group of Dark Will O' Wisps.

*BOOMM!!!!!!!*

Jin collided to the ground creating a large crater as it kill the mole.

*cough coughs*
Jin wipes the blood on his mouth, he slowly stood up as the anger in his eyes still exist. He held his head in pain as if multiple needles are pricking his brain.

Suddenly a large vine hit him making hit a large wall spitting blood.
He slowly stood up in silent anger as he identifies his enemy. Contaminated Spprigans, a rank A monster. But how will Jin know when he was at Verdant from the start and his mind in mess.

Great anger consumes him as his wounds healed up from his demon lord blood.

*Thump... thump... thump*

Jin clenches his heart feeling weird as he keeps coughing more blood. The Dark mist lessen the holy mana on Jin making him vulnerable to Gnev influence. Jin held his head as tears of blood falls in his eyes. 'It hurts... it hurts... I can't control it anymore... I...'

"GAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!" Jin shouted in pain as look in the sky. His body was slowly being covered by magma as he loses sanity. Only what left of him is a demon of wrath looking to the Spprigans.

The Spprigans controls the multiple monsters.
Seems like Jin has flown a far from his original location.

"Grrrrrrr.........." Jin growled towards as he was surrounded.
Just behind him is the Jungle Palace.

Wrath has consume Jin as he lose consciousness and it is hurting his body severly.

Sounds of battle can be heard further into the forest. Craters surrounding the area around Razogul and countless enemies. The Mutated butterflies, Treants, and dark Will O' Wisps.

Razogul slashes a nearby butterfly in half and dodges a treant slamming his previous location. Razogul landing, only to be attacked by the magic of Will O' Wisps. Seeing this, he creates a barrier, rendering the attack useless.

"God! I expected heavy resistance but this much!?" After saying this, Razogul swings his sword behind him and cuts a treant in half. The treant falling to the ground shortly after. Sighing, he plans to continue when he sees the dark mist form into hands and try to capture him.

Having a bad feeling, he avoids it and looks around. Seeing more of them try to catch him.

"...I better not get touched by those. Better safe then sorry." Saying this to himself, he looks at all of the minions advancing on him and gets fed up. "I have no time for this! Just die for me!"

Creating hundreds of dark spears, he aims them towards them and fires. Piercing them into trees and killing them almost instantly. However, more monsters appear around Razogul, preparing to attack again.

"Get out of my way!" Seeing that they keep coming, Razogul readies his dark magic and aims it at the most guarded position.

"DARK RAY!" Shouting his magic, a beam of dark energy shoots out and creates an opening. Taking advantage of this, Razogul runs out of the formation, further into the forest.

Walking a few more meters, a carnivorous plant shoots up from hiding and tries to attack him. Without looking, he ignores it and dodges the attack.

Seeing he's out of it, he hears someone screaming and sees Jin. Looking at what is happening, he clicks his tongue and rushes towards him.

"He's losing control again! Guess I'll have to 'rehabilitate' him again..."

Verdant Forest

Matthew looked over the city as he flew high above, his eyes scanning the area, analyzing the enemy’s movements and placement. This kind of scout work was what Matthew had the greatest confidence in, and after a short while, he’d prepared a detailed report on the enemy movements within the City. He then sent the report to the Guild Headquarters via [Whispering Ghosts] then headed towards the largest swarm of Ravens near the city center. Matthew’s form swelled and twisted in the air as he switched from his Songbird form to his Combat form. By the time he reached the rooftop level, He’d taken the form of a large ethereal Crane, sheathed in spiritual flames.

Matthew let out a continual stream of [Spirit Wind] blades and he raced through the streets, cutting down the Ravens and Spiders and he did so, making his way towards the center square. He approached with caution, stopping just short of the open and switching back to Songbird form, stealthily landing on the nearby building and observing the situation. The city square was surrounded by two dozen Half-Orcs, pressing on a small defensive camp set up at the center. Several lower-ranking Adventures and a few dozen civilians were hunkered down at the center. Their defense was solid, or at least it would have been, had it not been for the hundreds of large Ravens swarming their position from the air. Not only did they have to fight off the Half-Orcs on one front, but defend the civilians from the assault of the Ravens and Spiders from the Air. If this kept up, they would not last much longer.

Matthew gave a silent nod and leaped from the building he was perched on, shifting once more to his combat form and giving a cry of a great bird. At the sound, the Attacker’s and Defender’s eyes were drawn towards the figure of the massive Ethereal Crane sweeping low over the plaza,
Spiritual Flames trailing behind as it crashed into the Raven flock above. Like a hot knife through butter, the Raven flock was cut in two, as dozens of Ravens were cut to ribbons by the [Spirit Wind] Blades, and more still were wrapped in Spiritual Flames. Matthew flew through the flock and exited at the other side of the plaza, making a quick turn at the end to make another sweep.

By this time, the gathered Half-Orcs had gathered their sense and turned their attention to Matthew. Dozens of Spells and Arrows flew pass Matthew as he made another pass through the flock, again cutting the flock into pieces as the Half-Orcs continued their assault. By his third pass, the once large flock of hundreds of Ravens had been reduced to a few spare dozen and began to disperse into the area. Matthew tumbled from the Sky and weakly landed in the middle of the Encampment, his body forcibly shifting into his human form in order to conserve energy. His Combat form was a powerful tool, allowing him to deal with enemies or situations he would normally struggle with. However, the cost was just as sever, greatly draining his Spiritual energy and Lifeforce at a rapid rate. If it was not for the sheer number of Ravens and Spiders clogging the Sky’s he would never bother using such a trump card on these small fries.

Matthew lay on the ground, for a moment before several adventures rushed over to his location. He didn’t recognize any of them, but he Guild Employees leading the defense camp at least guaranteed their reliability. An Adventure in Priest garbs knelt down beside him and began to treat his wound as a Guild Employee approached and gave Matthew his thanks for the timely intervention. After a moment of silence, Matthew looked up and asked in a low voice,


“What’s going on? What Why are there Half-Orcs attacking the City?!”


The Employee went silent for a moment and simply exchanged a sad look with a few of the nearby Adventurers.

It happened while Hikari was flying on the airship towards Verdant, things were mostly fine, as the monsters were too busy with attacking the city to pay an airship that was midway there any attention...

Moving to another part of the Residential District, Rhialla could see many bodies strewn across the streets.

Seeing many dead civilians with body parts littering the ground, she couldn't help feeling sad they didn't manage to get to safety.
"Why didn't you go straight to the Temple? Why did you have to die like this?"
*sigh*
Displeased with the fact that none of the Adventurers managed to get here in time to save these people, she knelt down on the ground and began performing a ritual to the Spirit Mother. Sending their spirits to the Spirit Mother, hoping they could somewhat have another chance at life. That, or become sustenance for those who inhabited that realm. Searching all of there bodies for anything useful, Rhialla held no qualms over taking what the dead no longer needed. In so doing, she found pictures of children, family members, money, among other useless stuff. Taking the money for herself, she used her fire magic and cremated the bodies, leaving nothing behind.
Fools! Dying in such a pathetic way! At least carry something useful!
...This one knows Eternal Daughter has committed those pictures to memory and is planning on finding those within them.
...I didn't and you can't prove it!
Telva won't win, for Eternal Daughter, to admit that, is to go back on her training and promise...

Jumping back to the rooftops, Rhialla performed the same actions as in the previous area:
Use dark energy to gather the enemies to one location.
Use nature and wind magic to incapacitate the enemies.
Separate the enemies into a pile to kill and a pile to keep alive.
Burn the to kill pile down to ash.
Freeze the to keep alive pile in ice domes.
Use nature and wind magic to calm down the civilians.
Guide them to the Temple, ensuring they take the safest routes.
All of this took about 3 hours to do, with 652 civilians successfully evacuated, with roughly 287 enemies killed, 96 incapacitated and a very irritated Rhialla.
Seeing a group of adventurers talking to one another down below, she came up to them and put on her most cheerful smile, before asking:
"Hello~! I'm Rhialla, a Rank E Adventurer, what's going on~?"
Utilising her looks and nature magic to make them more willing to speak, the eldest one answered her:
"I'm George, also a Rank E Adventurer, we were discussing the latest news we received from Central Aeternus. It seems that a large flock of those Ravens is heading this way and will be upon us in a short while."
Putting a serious face on, she asked:
"How many are we talking about?"
"It's most certainly in the thousands. What's more, they're all transporting those blooming booming bombastic Suicide Spiders!"
"Ah...that would be problematic..."
"Yeah! What's more, the headquarters have suggested that their goal is the Maintenance Area. If that place goes down, then we're going to be in deep trouble!"
"Hmm...I can see that being the case...so...what are you going to do about it?"
"What do you mean!?! We'll have to fight them of course!"
"I see, I see~ But...if you don't mind me asking...what of the civilians who still haven't been evacuated~?"
"To Hell with them! I'm not sticking around here helping them when the bigger problem is those annoying airborne pests!"
Rhialla couldn't help smiling at this.
See what I mean, Telva~? They only care about themselves in the end~
That may indeed be the case, but until that flock arrives, This one suggests Eternal Daughter keeps to the assigned task of evacuating the civilians. Why not show these people up by rescuing the rest of them before those birds arrive?
Telva...are you trying to exhaust me to the point of collapsing and fainting?
That is not This one's intention. This one merely believes that Eternal Daughter is capable of achieving such a task and was trying to encourage and motivate.

"Hey... Doesn't it seem like... The forest is... Trembling?"

"An earthquake? I never heard of Earthquakes on Verdant."

"But look..."

"The ground is indeed shaking... And holy whackamoly! What is that!?"

The part that was releasing a huge amount of smoke started to rise... It was... Big, big enough to be seen from the airships.

"Dear gods..."

A deafening roar resounded throughout the entire Verdant Forest.

Boss Characteristics: (None of those characteristics should be currently known to the adventurers, find them out by yourself!)

• The orange blobs have hostages (residents) from Verdant Forest in it, attacking the boss directly will just make him drain the life-force of the hostages to regenerate, so you should break the orange blobs beforehand and save the hostages!
  • Attacking with too much strength might destroy the blob and also kill the hostages, so don't exaggerate.
  • Attacking with too little strength will just make the boss drain the hostages' life force to regenerate itself, so try destroying it in one blow!
• The boss spreads fear with its very presence, everyone on the surroundings should naturally feel a humongous instictive fear from the boss, which could easily paralyze someone completely, or make them run away in terror if they do not have enough willpower.
• Poisonous scales, be careful when hitting them! The boss can also throw them at the enemies and regenerate them freely.
• Can cause earthquakes with every step.
  
• The core in the middle of the body (obvious weakpoint is obvious... >.>) has no hostages, but it will block off all attacks and reflects all spells aimed at it for as long as there are hostages on the boss' body.
• Each and every breath of the boss spreads acid in the air, but it can also throw massive amounts of liquid acid at once through its mouth.

New goal for the people on Verdant is to break the orange blobs and rescue the hostages!
