It's not hard but being self taught is what gave us tsukikomi , Goshijin sama and so many untranslated phrases in Japanese translations

Ah that's true. I might have to work my ass off just to learn 1/4 of the language, I might go for Japanese first as it is closely(very) related to the Chinese language which could somehow help me with the words, phrases, and such.

I recommend learning Chinese first, since most Asian languages are rooted in it : At least Korean and Japanese are
Japanese still uses Chinese phrases
I recommend learning Traditional Chinese if you can instead of Simplified
