So far I have had no luck with this type of story... friends have suggested that I should try a beginners story to get into it, I am now here to get soem recommendations to where to start. (I have started "a tale of demons and gods" which I dropped because it was not what I was looking for. (MC op has a harem building around him with characters that have less depth than a teaspoon... At least that is what I thought about it) I would appreaciate some help on the matter.
Coiling dragons what people usually start with. A Will Eternal. Its easy to get into and fun. I would recommend ISSTH but the first 100chaps may not catch your attetniton.
Douluo Dalu Honestly you should start with Xuanhuan, it's more English-feel which might feel like home.
I recommend Coiling Dragon. Its have a balance plot so you will not have hard reading it. Its have a smooth sailing 100 chapters
personally i liked Stellar Transformation more than Coiling Dragon. Also, ST was my very 1st CN. Edit : Douluo Dalu can be a good start too (dont worry, no harem. just can be heavy descriptive sometime)
Lol tdg is a trash for most reader. Try Coiling Dragon, Throne of Magical Arcana, Renegade Immortal, ISSTH I highly recommend Throne of Magical Arcana, it doesn't has harem
If u want character depth, i recommend Ze Tian Ji I think u should read IET's novel as they all dont have harem: Coiling Dragon has magic, Desolate Era has sword, or Swallowed Star has sci fi... Or Doulou Dalu series if u want school type
If u want to get into classic Xianxia then I recommend Renegade Immortal, I Shall Seal the Heavens, Immortal executioner, Plundering the Heavens and A Will Eternal. If u want to read a Xianxia which has a protagonist with a blackened heart, then I suggest 'Reverend Insanity/Daoist Gu'. Edit: More classic Xianxias: A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality, Demon's Diary and Portal of Wonderland
I 2nd the suggestion on Douluo Dalu. It's what started me on webnovels in the first place. Next suggestion would be Coiling Dragon. A Will Eternal would have been great if there's more translated chapters.
I recommend 'I Shall Seal the Heavens' or 'Stellar Transformation', because they already completed, 'Desolate Era' is good, and it already reached outer space, gonna be completed soon i guess. 'Zhu Xian', MC's life is a tragedy 'Zhanxian', MC is OP, he's from the future, like 'Tales of Demons and Gods', but i don't know anything about his harem though. Maybe there are other good Xianxia novel, it just i haven't mastered Dao of Fast Reading

I already haven't read Zhu Xian for a long time I stopped in the middle because there are many new novels being translated... Curiosity got over me I recommended Zhu Xian because it give impression like those old martial arts novels, where the MC need to go through the worst time(many tragedies/hardships - that can affecting MC's mental and physical condition) to grow up into great person.
