My suggestion is to add "Translator(s)" to all NU pages. Seems a gross oversight to have all this info on these novels, yet have no listing for the person or persons who actually are bringing these works to readers. There's a listing for artist, publisher, author, number of chapters, licensed or not, etc., but none for translator. Adding this would also allow readers to search by translator.
You can go to any novel that the group translates and click on the group's name, you'll be able to see all novels by that group then.
Along with what brasca123 said, you can also click on the tl group's name on thr NU homepage to see all the tl group's works. Example: www.novelupdates.com/group/ebisu-translations/
That's not the point. It has all this other info on the side there, why doesn't it list the name of the translator? The individual translator, not just the group.
i believe he meant the personnel involved in spesific novel's translation, translator/editor/proofreader etc. so basically gz here is suggesting these associated personnel be listed, either in the groups's page, or the novel page itself. although i'm not sure if directly linking their NU/NUF handle is acceptable by all persons involved, tbh. some of these ppl might purposely have their handle on NU/NUF different from their 'official' site. for 'various', 'obscure' reason. >.>
I don't think that it will work You can have multiple translators working on a project It is like an author that uses ghostwriters Crediting all the ghostwriters is not necessary Yes it might be unfair but that is how life works
Ah, the way to implement this would be to have a page for the translator's groups that they can edit. The only problem is that it might be too much work.
That would be too difficult because of switching translators. Also, usually the groups already have the individual translators listed in the chapter itself, or the post. If we put in the translators, we may as well put in the editors and translation checkers and proofreaders.
Well, most groups are only of a single translator in the first place... But well, for those few groups that do have more than 1 translator... And how would that be implemented? Would people need to add the translator as well to the group whenever they add a new series? What if the translator changed midway without changing the group? How would the bot identify that? What if the translator changed groups then? Feels like a huge hassle both on making it work and on coding-wise... I don't see it happening...
Why is it a hassle? It's the same as adding the author of a novel to an NU page? Or the publisher. It's so simple. It's ashame people think so little of the people in this community who actually do all the work to the point that even acknowledging them is too much a hassle. =\
Author and publisher don't change, translator changes all the time and would need some way to be picked up by the bots... Unless you can suggest a way the bot can do that, I don't see it happening.
So I take it you're a translator and you want more acknowledgement... Is that it? If the credit in the release post is not enough, put your name in the chapters right under chapter number (+title). Having a separate field on the NU page is a bad idea - what about series with multiple groups? Add to that translator changes and we might see as many as 10-12 translators after a while...
