If by expand you mean cut out most of the charecters and skip some of the main characters introduction then yeah......


honestly the manga was MUCH better

 

I found Ouran's anime funnier than it's manga counterpart. Same for Nichijou.

 

extended fights are cool! but i feel like some of them shouldnt have been extended like Zoro's first fight with the fishmen leader in the palace.

 

That's a light novel. It shouldn't count lol. Otherwise, Full Metal Panic is also a good recommendation then.

Oh yeah! Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is a great example of an anime that exceeds its manga.

@wes174 for Twgok I disagree. The manga is better because the anime skips arcs/parts from the manga. But all of the arcs it adapts it does better than the manga. I watched the anime and then finished the manga and re-read all of it. I think the anime was slightly better, though I don't understand why it didn't adapt the last arc.

 

To be honest, there are very few anime out there that are actually better than the quality of manga they are derived from because of the difficulties for animators to fit the entire storyline in a series of short clips.

 

That was just so that they could get to the goddess arc quicker instead of wasting more money on a couple of arcs that most wouldn't appreciate. Compare the first seasons story to the manga version and you'll see just how in-depth the anime went

 

Full metal panic is also a Light Novel the mangas (there was more than one serie) came later...
But Fumofu had really good gags that weren't in the original story.

By the way, Kobashi maid dragon's anime was quite different (ambiance wise) than the manga.

Lol that's why I'm saying, if light novels are all good then FMP counts too since it has a manga and a light novel, lol. I'm read the LN's and the manga's lol.

Also, this totally doesn't count, but Persona 5. The anime's probably going to be better than the manga lolol.

I've read the manga, but never seen the anime. Everyone tells you not to read the mange if you've seen the anime for a reason

 

Maybe Beelzebub I like the anime better than the manga.
Sort of different from what you want but twin star exorcist's manga has a better story than the anime. You know... less fillers and all that

 

Bakuman anime is arguably better except for the arcs with that one villain that IMO aren't as good as in the manga, but otherwise the anime is better I think.

 

Already mentioned up there, my answer is kobayashi's maid dragon. The art get an obvious ultra upgrade, the story is touched up to be even better with more addons, fixed sequence, and emphasis on some joke points like about dragon tail food. Overall, the anime nail it pretty good.

Then I should say tsugumomo is a good adaptation too. The fighting scene in anime is comparable to shonen manga!

And then I personally liked kingdom anime. The feel of warring states in the anine is just superb.

Oh, Toriko is good too. Appetite whetting materials on color and motion

 

Cause the whole venus arc was a disappointment. Though if it was adapted they might change it for the better

The animations are much better because of sound and voices for me

Also I like watching good things
