    I want to rank Xian Ni, but I need better TL than Void. I'm waiting for Fivestar to get more chapters out before reading again.

    He isn't exactly a spirit companion either though. I'm thinking along the lines of helping in some way, but also in terms of being either a mentor or a best friend. Hence why Daydream was up there. Ye Yan is neither, he's just a toy Nie Li takes along.

    Also while your list here is pretty good no one has mentioned Pu Yao from World of Cultivation. That guy totally gets kudos for companionship, I'm not into soul rending pain or torture but if I could get his wisdom and snaky remarks I would totally not mind having him possessing a piece of my soul.

    I'm a fan of the Elders from Sevens. At the start they are slightly annoying but it's a bit of a different spin on things that there is more than one 'spirit' and not only do they converse with the MC, but with eachother as well. Plenty of banter between them which is amusing and they like to laugh at the MC for being dense, although they are serious when they need to be...
    before they start disappearing

    I much prefer it when the companions just give necessary information, or are not active at all times. Cases such as Yao Lao from BTTH are the worst because not only does he pour out ridiculous amounts of information, he actively dictates where and what Xiao Yan goes/does.

    I tend to dislike Yao Lao only for the fact that he made MC a cripple for 3 years or something at the beginning of the story, though he does make up for it eventually with all the help he offers.

    This is about the spirit companion, not general companion. So think Doehring and the fact no one else can see him and that he and linley are close. Bebe is real, Doehring is dead.

    The ancestor from Sevens! Most of my favorite moment in the series came from them. That, and best lyle award.
    The second maybe Jasmine, simply because she has (non-obsessive) brother complex. I had a weak spot for character that treasure their siblings.

    As for Zhuge Liang, I'm not sure if I'm liking him because of his character, or because he is Zhuge Liang. His character not appeared enough for me to made a judgement on his character

    Really you would pick Yao Lao over all the others mentioned? Maybe in usefulness he scores high (not highest though) but on coolness meter and attitude that dude is at the bottom of my pile, just saying....

    Yes because Yao Lao was the only one i recognized besides linley's teacher but i still pick Yao Lao over him considering he taught a lot more to his student than linley's teacher did to him

    Im not going to select a random teacher i havent read about so... yes i would pick him over the others

    I'm kidding but yea I'm pretty confident that if you have read about some of the others you might prefer them instead but then again maybe not.
