I own a wordpress site and my visitors usually leave comments but I'm paranoid when it comes to security so I don't know if I should approved all the comments or not. Spam comments are auto filtered, admin url is changed, wp version is 4.5.4 and I don't want to update for now because some plugins and the theme will be in conflict and mess up the whole site. Main point is, can they hack a wp site using the comment section? And can anyone recommend a backup plugin which also backups the database. I'm using updraftplus.

They can hack without even using the comment section, but I don't see a reason why to hack unless someone has a grudge against you. If there are people who want to steal your works, they can just copy paste.

You're using WordPress meaning that they have to be the one who provide security for your site. You are likely to be compensated if you're hacked.
