    I'm having trouble with: 微顿了顿神
I always get confused when the word 神 comes up.

As 顿 means 'to stop, pause', does 顿神 mean that they've 'blanked out', 'having a mind blank' or 'brain freeze'?
Or does it mean they're 'distracted' or 'in a daze'?

    Thank you in advance.

The context is that a person sees something, 微顿了顿神 and then continues next action.

神here means 精神 [mind] so the literal translation would be a halt in his/her mind. I would go with pause/startled.

    微 means slight, minute
顿 means to stop, to pause
神 refers to the mind or mental state (as lonelytree said above)
I would say the phrase 微顿了顿神 means the person blanked out for a moment.
