Got really interested in this novel and tried to read using translation tool.... Half an hour later I'm brain dead and can't even read proper english without going cross eyed. MTL is too hard

I wouldn't recommend anyone to MTL this, it's too difficult to understand that way. I'd like to TL this faster but this isn't easy... All the chinese internet lingo take some pondering to figure out

The fact that he is "beyond the optimal age", which the story states to be before 8 years old, to start cultivation and yet he has a ridiculous pace of leveling; most of the chat group's seniors are left flabbergast. All this happened in the 1+/2 months that he went to receive a senior "White", since everyone else knew when he started actual cultivation. Its not when he created and consumed the body tempering medicine, as this by itself is not cultivation, but when he was given his first body and mental cultivation skills.

I kind of wanted to keep a timeline of major happenings in this story but was just too busy reading.

story finally picking up with some real life meetings.
I found the chatroom portions really boring and dull, but the real life interactions are fun.

 

I read the story in the raw actually, I think some of the others are using Bing or something for machine translation and are having pretty ok results? You might want to try that, and can always just ask/pm for clarification of terms used that don't translate as well.

Yes the story is very interesting, and I always am amazed by some of these long story authors of the inclusion of some plot, hinted at earlier on, but only really revealed as part of a new story arc some hundred(s) of chapters later.

 

There is quite a bit less chat room interaction after he actually starts cultivation as the story then focus on his actual cultivation and things that happens to him. You have to think of the early chapters as a calling of fate that brought him into the "modern" world of cultivation and that he was a lurker early on since he assumed those in the channel to be xianxia chuunibyou sufferers. So the bulk of the earlier chapters would be on his school life and the chat group's interactions that he view from the side. This is of course until things happening (starting from the chat in around chapter 14 where Soft Feather mentioned wanted to go to J City) that shattered his world views and took his first step into this unknown world of cultivation.

I would point out that the chat group will still play a not so minor role in the communication and humor aspect of the story even after he starts cultivation.
