Going to post some guides here. They are all so TL;DR right now.

 

Does the logo need to be a certain shape? A certain color scheme?
When sending in the submission, do we send the .psd along with the .png?

 

Shape is up to you. Color Scheme either black and blue or white and blue or whatever matches well with the current NUF theme. Just the png.

 

Just to be sure; is this 200 x 200 of what unit?

 

I'm certain it's pixel size.

btw, is basic concept acceptable?
like I submit my logo but it's not final version, the final version is available when my logo is being accepted by the admins.
and of course the "final version" I'm talking about is when the artist and admin discussed about further concept of logo.

 

What is the max file size acceptable?

 

We can talk basic stuff like that here or pm. Three weeks for development and submission.


Max file size is max you can upload. Expect us to want to scale it down.

 

To be honest the detail about the event is a bit vague and lacking.

When designing logo, the both party, artist and client, are always keep in contact. But we know you are the "Client" that asking for logo to MANY artist, so, you should put a bit more detail about these contest event.
and also ...
when the "artist" designing, they always submit the basic concept first to the client.
this is why I'm asking in my previous post.
because, Do you accept ONLY final logo and then use it without further more discussion or do you accept ANY logo then you discuss it again to finalize the logo?

oh, let me a bit remind you, though this might seem to be rude but ... Every "Artist" create an "Art", that "Art" is like a children, they want their child is being recognized, being prized, being acknowledged by the masses. SO? THE WORD "Please keep in mind that Tony may or may not use the winning submissions!" is ... inappropriate.

It was like "what's the point doing this when my child is not going to be appreciated?"
Although not every artist like that but MOST of them really care about their art that they created

So, please discuss more about this Competition LOGO whether you want to use it or not, so the artist will not disappointed when they win but their logo is not going in any where.

Yes, I know you admins, everyone appreciate every art that being submitted but ... "Who doesn't like leaving behind a 'History' mark somewhere"

While I agree that the winning submission should be picked for the logo, I think the fact that it's a contest would require the submission to be final.

Ok, allow me be as firestarter, I've done not long ago and I actually almost submit it at main page contest ... that would be embarrassing myself if I really did that, hehe, luckily I'm not.

So here: my basic Idea about Novel Updates

Novel Updates is website that providing assistance to both translator and reader to promote, finding, discuss, and many others, so basically NU is like library community. This is why I choose bookshape.
As for "bookmark" color is represent of "Varied things" like, genre, where the books came from or even different people on internet, this is why I choose colorful colors (though it's still random)
the Idea is still can be developed more ...

Oh, this is actually the easiest template when I'm submitting basic design to client.

When designing something, you need the reason behind why you draw this, and why you choose this. You need also need to convince your client "why this logo is good for you" to your client.
Trust me, this is basic knowledge when you're working in designer path

Though, is not really necessarily to do like this ... this is just an example from me
