Did NU really exist for that long?

for some random reason, while scrolling trough the NU front page for updates, i reached the bottom and was wondering if i should go to the next page to check more updates. Then from the corner of my eye i noticed a "1102" page number. obviously i was kinda surprised and impressed; they actually had 1102 pages worth of updates. but then by doing what little kids does best when they see something interesting(like free candy) i smashed that button only to be rewarded by pure astonishment. that's right people, NOVEL UPDATES HAS POSTED THEIR FIRST UPDATE ON THE THURSDAY, JULY 25, 2002 for a little novel by the name of "Little Li’s Flying Dagger" from spcnet. if memory serve right isn't spcnet the early version of wuxiaworld by RWX?

but still, 16 years? DANM Daniel (ok that joke was old, plz don't kill me)
did the internet even exist back then(?) lol
imagine the monthly visits back then (probably like 13 or something)

 

NU should have been a year or more if I'm not wrong. The reason why you can see novels in 2002 is that because the informations of the novels are being retrieved by bots through RSS feed.

Edit : Apparently, all of it had been added manually by the mods.

 

Correct! I think so, too. And NU is indeed not even 2 years old

 

If i remember correctly NU exists for about 2 years aside from one or two months.

 

? Forums are pretty new, but everything else was here before wasn't it?

Spcnet isn't the early version... Afaik spcnet is a forum where Chinese culture (novels/movies/tv shows/etc) was discussed and translated Chinese novels were also posted.

Iirc RWX is/was just a moderator, therefore it is not an "early version".

 

I remember back when I first joined NU.
CD was what ISSTH and DE are now.

 

NU was first created in June of 2015. NUF was created and opened to the public on Oct 20, 2015

 

I remember I was on ao updates first then novelupdates came up if I remember correctly

I used to read on Aho-updates, then I found and followed NU around that day too, but never knew that registering had much much much more benefits until around middle of november that year.

That time nobody expected NU will be as robust as today, and looks like how it is now.
