Nah since there are still anaerobic cells still hanging on fighting the good fight, it's more of a post apocalypse dystopia for them. The filthy Aerobes have evolved and now force the survivors to process complex chemicals like sugars and milk protiens into simple ones for their consumption.

More realistically given the number of things that could and or should have wiped out humanity in the past, our current world is an increasingly improbable anomaly of statistics, if it gets any more improbable people are going to start developing superpowers.
