writing a novel right now and wanted to ask do you hate these scenes and if so why
I'd think only add the scene if it actually belongs there, don't force one
Fourth, option. Just because
It actually needs to make sense. After a sufficient build up/character/world building. Yea, go for it. But if you throw it in as a female heroine got poisoned and needs 'special' help like every other 'Here you go MC, just because I said so' stories. Then it is just a turn off and not really interesting. Since at that point it is just the Author doing as they please rather than the story progressing at a natural pace.
Basically you shouldn't do a scene because 'it looks good' but rather that's the mood/tone of the current setting and has a proper build up to. That being said if the mood says yes. Don't do like some of the other authors do and just Oh we are finally going to get a little character development. Then something is thrown in from out of the blue that regresses the current mood leaving a hollow feeling (And after the 30th+ time you just expect it to happen). Just like if you were to be presented with a bowl of food. And right before you took a bite someone took both the bowl and the food out of your hand. Just bad taste if repeated over and over.
If its just there to be there and not to add plot *cough* MGA *cough*, don't make one.
Reading in public without being conscious. Thats cool man. Add them like every other chapter. HAHAHAHAHA
R18 scenes are okay but it should not like cover 90% of the novel unless its really a ero novel.. Some mature action novels uses 90% sex 3%talking and 7% fucking I just hate it.. and they publicized it as a action type novel it just makes me angry
What are your genre?
Do their humping actually relevant to the story? Perhaps to showcase ML sexual prowess? Or perhaps to show people that the ML is awkward with woman.
If the scene could be concluded with fade in black and the morning after, then that sex scene is not necesarry and just gratuitous fanservice. Not that I call that be bad per se, but it might not fit your story flow.
Anyway, your novel, your call. Author auteur.
its an comedy action and thriller don't worry about it i was just asking in general and the scene does have significance in the context of the story
thanks for the advice ill make sure there arn't any of the usual bs fan service with bad excuses in it
I avoid them like the plague
Because vanilla scenes do not pack enough punch for authors
so we have to deal with females with tails and all that shit
Bestiality is not arousing.
Also usually you have a lot of rape too, just for shock effect
i love that scene if it executed with the correct timing
I don't mind~ tbh such scene IMO just for da sake for hmm adult taste or show mature side?
unless it hentai
cultural thing I guess? well I prefer there good reason such thing happen like da MC go to brothel to release stem or something like that~
R-18 scene are okay, but they need to use in an appropriate situation with reason so the story flows well.
like a wedding night, got poisoned and need to get laid for heal kind of stuff, rape scene?, get drugged by aphrodisiac, etc.
R-18 scene that just happen suddenly without reason are just lame. probably because the author is horny when he/she types that scene.
ps: are porns included?
Depends, if you're writing porn, then go for it... Cause it's well, porn...
But if you aren't, then only put it in if it's necessary though you could always just make it vague so people know they had sex, but didn't actually get the details where they had sex.
R18 scenes have to actually be interesting, and for me to be interested in them there has to be one or more of these things:
1) I'm feeling a little randy and am looking specifically for an "adult special interest scene", but then I wouldn't be looking in a normal novel, I'd want it to be smut.
2) It's REALLY, REALLY well written and integrated into the plot. This almost never happens, at least not in webnovels. Even in more professionally made novels it's a rarity. I can think of maybe one or two examples that weren't from works primarily fitting #1.
3) It's just so weird/perverse I can't help but be interested in it, but this tends to hella mess with the story's tone if the rest of it isn't equally strange. To paraphrase a discussion on a work I was looking into recently, you can't help but be interested in a scene about necrophiliac dendrophily.
Edit: That scene in the Neil Gaiman book American Gods where a lonely taxi driver and a genie have some gay sex is totally unnecessary, jarring, and probably my favorite bit from the entire novel.
As long as it's not yaoi I can deal with it and as long as it doesn't ruin the story like a totally bullshit filler in a anime series
As most authors fail to 'write' it ... I am more than happy with a 'they did it btw' or how the author from LLS described it 'knight breaking through the castle gate'.
Just a tail is no bestiality. Only furry can be considered as bestiality, but nekomimi and similar are sexy as fuck. This is a reason why, for example, Nekopara so popular. And rape scenes can't shock anyone nowadays, most males prefer hard sex in porn and not gentle vanilla stuff. Moreover 90% of so called rapes by MC in Chinese novels are not really rapes.
I avoid them. I don't read to read about sex. There are other and better mediums for that stuff.
