Saw this article: https://advox.globalvoices.org/2017...cial-media-users-to-register-with-government/ The worst part is probably this: How can this even be considered at all, and supposedly 60 members of the Egyptian parliament already approved it? Just think about it, 6 months in jail and a fine over using facebook or twitter without registering your real name and ID numbers on some government site... And then it says that's not all either: Discord, skype, NOVEL UPDATES FORUM, and I don't really know what else. All of that would have to be linked to your government account or whatever? Might as well delete the internet from Egypt at that point to be honest. Now I'm not exactly sure about this, I just randomly found out about it because I look at weird shit all day (and this just happened to pop up among the not as weird stuff ), and I honestly hope this is just some fake crap someone came up with. (Cause I don't want anyone to even consider anything like that. Fk no.) So anyway, what is your opinion on this? What do you think about if something like that would become a law in the country you live in? Would you be Ok with it? Maybe fine for certain sites only, like on facebook you're probably using your real name anyway? But you'd NEVER do it on say Novel Updates Forum, or how about PORNHUB & hentai???* w/ Poll. *Let's just say that everyone would suddenly be very normal and not have any kind of fetish and unless you're ready to jump out of the closet gays won't be watching any porn or anything at all I guess. (Which would probably mean they're dead mofos if they live in the wrong country by the way.) Yeah, just so many things wrong with this that I don't know what to say... p.s. anyone who know Arabic who can tell me if this site is legit or no? http://www.youm7.com/story/2017/4/26/
It's only a matter of time before it happens to the rest of the world. Heck people are already voluntarily giving up their personal info online.
Would you include things that aren't Facebook and Twitter? e.g. Novel Updates Forum & Discord. It's not like ISIS would use these platforms since there's no great audience anyway, right? Or what do you think? I've got no idea, probably? You'd might get in jail for 6 months if you got caught though? But I guess for the discussion about whether you would be ok with it or not, that would count as a no?
well they did that because of islamic politic movement. most moeslim there want khillafah goverment & syariah law
its not necessarily about getting audience, these sites could also be used for plotting/scheming, secret communication, spying other people, etc... there's tonnes of things you could do in a social outlet, be it bad or good....
If state ID number is their version of social security number I would not. I am not comfortable having all that information out there for people to hack and get their hands on. What if isis just hacks to take your numbers to make fake accounts also? like with current game accounts hackers hack inactive accounts to use for bots on MMorpgs.
Yes, some members in NUF are ISIS members, using codes to communicate secretly, example : lolis = bomb, is = the , life = government, basically when people say ''lolis is life'' they are actually saying ''bomb the government'', so theyre paranoia is understandable.
For me, that depends. Do I need to use social media? What's considered a social media? If the answer is yes to the first question, and my internet outlet of choice is considered a social media, then yes, I'd register. You may talk about freedom and privacy, but at the same time, for a society to function, people need to be held accountable for what they do. Otherwise, it'll be chaotic. Plus, we've already given away many parts of our privacy for the sake of convenience. This won't really make that much difference.
That's what I assumed at least, but I'll be honest with you and admit that I don't really know. I'm not even sure about if it's real since it included a tag "fake news" at the bottom. I intended the thread to be something like 50/50 about the real thing, and a hypothetical scenario in case it happened in your own country. I didn't really think about that, though I wonder how effective that would even be at catching any terrorist. After all it's implied that you can avoid registering with the government, or why else would there be a punishment if you didn't? By I digress. So let's say there's suddenly ISIS in your country now or whatever, would you be OK with such a law. Or perhaps another law that isn't as strict, or not OK with anything like it at all? (After all, I'm not really interested in the government's motive behind it. I just care about what affects me ) According to the article "social media" would include anything where you can share messages, video, or voice chat over the internet. I think that would include e.g. Novel Updates Forum, Discord, and how about Pornhub and your favorite Hentai site? etc. (Try to explain that loli stuff and BDSM to friends and family later guys) I'll assume you'd tick that 3rd option box "maybe, under certain circumstances"
It probably would make it easier to catch the trial of ISIS if we were to register but like I said earlier I dislike that idea. The idea is nice and helpful but the consequences can be just as bad.
Yeah i probably would since most people i have on social medias are people who know me irl, but still i prefer not lol
I mean I already posted my picture here, so I'm not that bothered. I don't mind doxxing, so I'll still use it. I wouldn't use my real ID to access strictly anonymous sites like 4chan though. But yeah, I agree that this entire concept sounds stupid AF. EDIT: I'll still be anonymous on my porn and hentai sites.
oh~ sound like the government can't deal with tracking a person~ sure human resource and funding maybe one of the problem~ now if my country want to make that law~ with current condition where so many younger generation using social media~ borrowing some words from xianxia~ *cough blood* YOU COURTING DEATH!
Everything has same potential to use as communication. And no ones can guarantee that said people only access Discord etc... America will appreciate this..
Absolutely useless move. What this does is catch wannabes and people who don't actually know anything. The real crooks would know how to use proxies, VPNs or the dark web. None of these can be countered effectively. I bet the people who proposed this bill knew it too, but they were hoping to at least catch some dumb noobs who shout Allahu Akbar and claim they've successfully caught an 'important member of ISIS' for their war on terror, a morale boost that actually doesn't achieve anything. BTW, ISIS does conduct their recruitment through facebook. There was a Malay supremacist group I was invited to join some years ago that I didn't really take notice of, but has recently been full of ISIS propaganda. I reported it to facebook, but it didn't seem to be removed. I was tired of having lots of ISIS propaganda on my facebook main page, so I left the group.
