is anyone willing to take up Evolution Theory of the Hunter ?
I liked the novel pretty much but the translator has gone MIA some month ago .... ?

 

really a good novel, it's a pitty that the translator is gone.

Why It Should Get Picked Up: It is a really good novel, well balanced setting in an apocalyptic world, a slow and steady romance, not weak not op mc, one of a kind.

In a world of dungeons and monsters – you can become strong if you merely have enough money.

Rare skillbooks that can magically upgrade your skills in an instant are sold at exorbitant prices. So only the privileged and rich are able to buy their way to become hunters – a much revered occupation that allows one to enter dungeons and hunt monsters.

Our MC is a porter, a sort of caddie for hunters. He dreams of one day becoming a hunter when he comes into possession of a skillbook.

But the skill is a level 0. Something unheard of. No one wants it. People laugh at it. But he learns the skill – only to find that it may be the most amazing one yet.

I enjoyed this, and hope it's picked up. Here's the description I've used when reccing it:

It's a Korean WN of the "modern world with RPG elements" variety. Short version of the setting: 50 years ago, monsters suddenly appeared. Modern weapons weren't all that effective against them, but one guy had the good fortune to find a skillbook that was a rare drop from killing a monster, discovered how to successfully fight them, and led others into clearing and looting dungeons.

As the story starts, getting a high quality skillbook (and except for rare exceptions, everyone is limited to one and only one skill) is expensive, as is the gear you need to survive a dungeon. The MC is a porter, someone hired by rich kids playing adventurer to go into dungeons with them and carry their loot, dreaming of one day having enough money to be a hunter himself, and who manages to find a seemingly-worthless skillbook of his own.

For me, the story hit a few sweet spots: gritty without being grimdark, a pragmatic MC who wasn't a murderous edgelord, a good mix of realism and RPG-ish elements.

I guess it was announced awhile ago, but the translator for ETH is going to pick it up again when the translator is less busy some time in February (hopefully)

 

Yes! That is what LightNovelCafe told me when I asked about it in January. But, she also said she is fine with someone picking it up before then.
