Question Exclamation marks in WMW

I just started reading this and there's an exclamation mark every time a person talk. Control f usual says there's 70-80 or 100 of these per chapter and it's getting really annoying. Will people ever stop being loud/excited/screaming every time they move their mouth or think?

 

Huh, really? Straight up never noticed. Wonder if other xianxia have that problem... now I kinda wanna scan every novel for exclamation points and index them by "!" per chapter. Ooo or maybe by word count, so that longer chapter's aren't disproportionately higher...

 

Maybe everyone in the story is hyper about what they do? Maybe it's action?! I like action! But seriously, I do hate that sometimes a story does overuse punctuation that doesn't really add to the tone.

Clearly it's because nobody listens to them so they have to yell it at the top of their lungs.

 

That's what the raws have so it's not on the part of the translator, I think they use it everytime the A.I speaks so just think of it as a system prompt when that happens, It also happens when he discovers anything wrong with his predicament or situation.

I think of it as matrix realisation moments rather than actual screaming.
You just have to picture a wizened scientist exclaiming softly at a realisation.

But yeah it's been bothering me too. Now I just ignore it.

Never really noticed it in WMW, but I'm sure everyone has a list of LN related grievances...really long lists..lol

It's.... this! This is what is annoying!
Always those "It was...xxx! xxx is [repeat the last sentence + very]" Soooooooooo annoying from ISSTH or MGA and other Chinese...

so basically, there are too many emotional surprises with some painful cry/remark, that would make a tiger to shriek and lion to roar, and a human to yell with ......... ......for goods sake, i don't know what to say

i never noticed that, things i did notice however is how much the A.I Chip 'intones' or how leylin rubs his chin every time hes pondering.. but i mean just get used to it, i can name 10 different things from other books that are written literally every other paragraph at least e.g. renegade immortal, whenever something excites the mc or even other characters their or "his eyes lit up" or in coiling dragon whenever linley or his family and friends are chatting they laugh with nearly every single sentence.. well these are things that were stuck in my head from how much they pop up so you just have to put up with it since the writers do this on purpose to increase word count, hence increasing their pay day.. in the end, like nearly everything else in life, it all comes down to the mula$$

 

Just think of it like their talking loud instead of shouting. I usually never read it as an exclamation mark unless it's really intended to be.

 

You should've made poll asking if people noticed an abundance of exclamation marks...

I didn't. Maybe is because of the (over)abundance of ellipses in these "novels" because of "its in the original/raw"

 

That was like my 2nd reason to drop it, the 1st being the A.I. chip having more personality than leylin

Haha, yeah, they're certainly used more than I've ever seen before, but I've gotten used to ignoring them.
