It's annoying when you post a thread, and check the home page only to know that the thread has been knocked off even before it got featured on the first page just coz 2 someone's clicked the post button just seconds after you. My suggestion is, can it be made so that new threads can remain featured on the main page for a fixed period of time, let's say 5 minutes? Threads posted after the new thread (if it hasn't been 5 minutes yet) will be added to a queue and featured on the main page after the 5 minutes for the previous thread is over. Ofc, if no new threads are posted (after the 5 mins are over), then the current newest thread will remain on main page. This is because, it's the fourth time (yes, not the first, second or third!) that a thread I made is off the main page before even being on there for seconds, let alone minutes. Especially if it's a spoiler discussion or even ln character discussion thread, then the thread maker may not get the discussion that person desires coz of less exposure. Because, many people check and only check the latest threads on main page instead of going through each sub-forum. You may call me a sore laser, but well, I'm sure this has happened with other people before and I just wanted to point it out and suggest a solution.
New posts don't bump the threads onto the "New Topics" panel on NU's main page. What sub-forum are you posting in? Not all of them are displayed in that section. If you don't believe me, you can try to verify with this: http://forum.novelupdates.com/#widget-tab-16 (atm the top 2 threads are displayed on homepage, so wait for something else).
I'm talking about new threads and not new posts. And this is for all sub-forums, not any particular one that I'm mentioning this. It's coz this has happened not for a particular sub-forum but it's an observed phenomenon. It happens frequently enough, maybe once every 3-4 days that threads are posted one after another during a high activity period. I, for one, found that amusing. Actually, it probably didn't happen. Like I tried to tell you in my previous post not all new threads get mentioned on the main page. No. Really? So am I. I only pointed you towards the widget so that you could verify which threads get displayed on the NU's homepage and which don't. ~~Edit~~ Just so we're clear - I just paid a bit of attention to the Latest Topics section and compared it with the widget. It seems spoilers don't get displayed in Latest Topics. Also, the section refreshes after 2-3 mins, so new threads won't be shown there immediately.

Its not that they are being bumped off. It is that it takes time for them to appear. It takes a few minutes before threads are updated onto the nu homepage. It is not an instant process.
