So I was reading The Scum Villian's Self Saving System and there is a part where the author of novel the mc was transmigrated to wonders how his story became so scrambled up. MC was orginally a villian who the protagonist cut off all four limbs and strung up from a rope(). The protagonist becomes the otp in a bl instead of an immortal hero of a stallion novel Spoiler: Stallion novel meaning novels featuring protagonists with some kind of charm effect getting a bunch of people going crazy over them. Most of them are harem. You can think of it as: harem protags = stallions or stud horses getting it on with many brood mares - definition courtesy of Worshipper A Basically, the original novel is all scrambled up and that got me to thinking of stallion novels and xanxia in general. If you had to flip flop a heterosexual novel to create a gay pairing as the one true pairing, which novel would it be and who? For me, I was thinking I Shall Seal the Heavens Spoiler Meng Hao and Lord Fifth(use your imagination) and History's Strongest Senior Brother Spoiler Yan Zhaoge and Ah Hou for diabetes or Spoiler Yan Zhaoge and Ye Jing for the hot blooded
Really???!!! It looks like the danmei imagination of NUF is finally dried up! They don't have to be necessarily desirable in their current form. The Otp in Scum Villian was definitely not viable in it's orginal form.
I think its normal for a male to not imagine maleXmale pairings. As for girlXgirl, its somewhat boring.. theres lack of the "self insert" or "**** insert" in the pairings.. so yeah..
Eh, I think that Lord fifth and Meng Hao would make for a terrible combination. There simply is no actual romance possible there, it could only be played for weird laughs. Now the trio from WDQK I could see as a Menage a Trois

B-but they have affinity. No one can manipulate Meng Hao's decision making like Lord Fifth. I can see him persuading Meng Hao all the way to the sheets.
...Not really. Lord Fifth doesn't really manipulate. He's more of an annoying and dominating brute. He just keeps on going until he gets what he wants. He's also probably the worst character in ISSTH as a source of super-power at early levels and comedic relief with no depth or development whatsoever. Furthermore, he doesn't have a romantic bone in his body. The story would lack any and all interesting plot or characterization and would be simply a tasteless fanfiction at best.
Well, not manipulation per say but you forgot, I already said that the otp doesn't have to be desirable in their current form. Just like Scum Villian, we don't need a ambiguous foundation like most fanfiction do. Ye Jing and Yan Zhaoge certainly isn't ambiguous. Just take two people and rewrite them into another gay story. Who can't say Meng Hao and Lord Fifth haven't died and got new hosts in my version?
...That doesn't mean it's really and OTP. And arbitrarily changing character's personality and behavior to fit the desired novel, makes for poor story. You'd be much better off using original characters or basing it off a different story.
