getting started with my new laptop

finally got a laptop of my own. Yay~ This is my first post using this laptop as well. Its been ages since i last set up a pc so I forgot everything. First what should I do to get rid of this dumb red line swirling beneath my words as I type? what should I install? Too many things I need help with xD

Also this is a bit irrelevant but I'm too lazy to make another thread so please help me a bit xD I just TRIED making a T-Mobile account but when it says it sent me a verification code, I checked and it didn't send me crap. Its already been 1 hour and I've tried making it resend more than 10 times already.

get hitman pro and malwarebytes and get them to scan your laptop for anything dodgy?

What operating system is it? I think windows 10 has a spell checker setting

1. partition your hardisk wisely if you havent.
2. get paid version anti virus. if you cant buy it you can try eset / kaspersky.
3. get deepfreeze or equivalent program incase you screw up.
4. update your O/S and driver.
5. install stuff you need on main drive.
6. run full av check.
7. make main drive images on other drive.

I don't intend to use this for gaming, only for work and checking novelupdates and manga. for others I got my phone and tablet.

Are you using MS Word? Google "Turn Off Word's Red and Green Squiggly Lines - 15 Essential Microsoft Word 2010 Tips for Beginners | PCMag.com". Basically you need to uncheck, Check spelling.

If you want program recommendations, I spent several years studying antispyware programs and how to clean spyware. You got 2 kinds: A.)Prevention programs. or B.)Clean up programs

A.)If you want to prevent spyware problems:
1.)Temp File/Cookie cleaner like Ccleaner at piriform.com or Bleachbit at bleachbit.org. [Don't go to Sourceforge.net]
2.) Hostman for Mvps Host file found toward the bottom of: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm ,
3.) Spywareblaster https://www.brightfort.com/spywareblaster.html .
4.)A 3rd party firewall like PrivateFirewall 7.0. https://www.privacyware.com/personal_firewall.html , I'd stay away from Cnet, too.
You will have alot to read and study, so don't just download and roll, because you will just be mad at me.

B.) Clean Up-
1.)Malwarebytes,
2.)Spybot Search and Destroy [Don't turn on the host file or load the domain blocking programs, because of Spywareblaster.]
3.)Get a good anti-virus, I use to use Avast, but it got a little to aggressive for my liking. I want to try Sophos antivirus, but I can't recommend it, yet.

A few parting words if you try to use my setup, "read, read ,read". Make sure your restricted zone is set to max in IExplorer, (You really should go to another browser. I like Firefox, myself.) Make sure to turn off the service for the host file. All these programs are free, so don't pay for anything until you like it. Norton suite does not like the Mvps host file. Most antiviruses and some firewalls have a program uninstaller, so when the trial McAfee or Norton runs out hunt it (bleepingcomputer.com/downloads) down.

Just so its said, "When you do get hit with something you will need the clean up programs, so don't ignore them even if you don't like mine." I am going to quit rambling. This should get you started. Good Luck.

I changed my firefox language to english so that I could get rid of the annoying red lines that think I'm writing on another language...

Of course, simply turning it off like other people suggested also works.
