Yeah, his new book is on Zongheng, iReader, and a few other platforms, but not Qidian.

    It's on 17k as well: http://www.17k.com/book/2658321.html

Another article here as a source: https://www.sohu.com/a/192120391_159592

Just basic info. Seems like Zongheng is the main publisher.

It's a xuanhuan novel, btw. The summary is even more useless than usual, so not sure what it's about, though the 17k link has a more lengthy summary.

Using Google Translate, it looks like he wanted to retain the copyright to the work, which is why this change happened. Looks like China is catching on to the value of IP, and (popular) authors are realizing how much money they are leaving on the table by signing over rights to platforms.

I'm not surprised. I've always thought that Qidian's system would never be able to hold on to the smarter top-tier authors.

If more authors move from Qi, there's really nothing to stop from Zhongheng or any other publishers to do what Qi did. Only that they'd probably try to win the community first.

All they need is money, more popular authors go to their sites, more money they'll get, higher chance of happening.

Trust me, businessmen ain't gonna ignore something that they can make money out of.

The author decided to go independent. The novel is published on a myriad of sites, and I believe he retains the rights himself.
