Story from the start: I've come abroad to live with family while I work, my nephew annoyed the heck of me of "What's your password" for the laptop, still didn't give it to him, but was stupid enough to log in to the account with administrator and installation privileges... Checked on the computer now... I have 5 extra programs!! A BS "desktop customizer" that hijacks the browser, a BS pop-up program that displays ads on the desktop (... WTH!!!...) and the other 3 I don't know what they are. Lesson learned: Never let a 12 y/o play with the computer that you still might use, 3/5 programs were easily uninstallable (2 of the 3 were with Captchas for freaking uninstalling them!?) which leaves me with a program that I have to shutdown the start-up and this one with the Chinese Captcha: http://imgur.com/a/eklKK Help very much appreciated if given!
Please download Malwarebytes to your desktop. Install the program. Then click Finish. Once the program has fully updated, select Scan Now on the Dashboard. Or select the Threat Scan from the Scan menu. If another update of the definitions is available, it will be implemented before the rest of the scanning procedure. When the scan is complete, make sure that all Threats are selected, and click Remove Selected. Restart your computer when prompted to do so. It's an adware actually.
Thanks for the recommendation, but I don't need a anti-virus program (it doesn't get recognized as a virus), I need a BS remover. The problem is the Chinese Captcha, I didn't close it yet and I'm trying to use the online recognition software but it's just not picking it up...
Go to task manager Kill the program Delete that program folder Delete it from program list Run CCleaner to remove dead registry Run paid anti virus for possible threat detection
The infamous Chinese Captcha. Posting in translation corner is your best hope lol. Hope someone can retype the Chinese characters before it expired. Anyway, I recommend you copy/backup important data and re-format your pc. Who know what else lurking inside your computer now.
