"Chet" brought up the topic of her break up was due to her cheating, and in you description of their chat, she didn't deny it. Chet is apparently ok with this confirmation because he continued to appeal for a meet up. Most likely he just wants a casual friends-with-benefits relationship and since she doesn't rebuff him immediately, she led him on that she is somewhat agreeable to this. While Chet may have been aiming for an easy score, there is still the fact that as soon as Rose became available again, the word heard on the grapevine gave the impression that even an old acquaintance out of the blue had a chance.
