Discussion How does reincarnation work?

So, I have been reading novels with the reincarnation tag in there. But I was wondering, how does reincarnation really work? In chinese the main character usually reincarnates at the beginning after dying a horrible death. But in some novels does it still count as reincarnation, when they use another body while their soul has taken it over? And when they reincarnate, there has to be some magic behind the scenes, meaning someone else is doing it? And when they go back in time, do the timeline they die in seperate from a different timeline, or the whole freakin world just rewinds?

 

There's reincarnated into an alternate world and transported into an alternate world. They are different with many similarities

I like the idea of a cosmic system in place with judges and guards and kings that determine where you'll end up based on your deeds in life...

Also like the idea of total chaos ruling the reincarnation stream. You die, your soul enters the stream, and where you end up is completely random. Who knows, maybe that ant on your desk has memories of its past life and is just screaming at you, cursing your good fortune.

 

You can look up how it happens in hindu and buddhism but I dont think that'll be much help

In the end you just have to accept it as a plot device. You can also ask how are their worlds so massive but the gravity is the same? or how are they still earth like planet(in terms of climate).

If authors were ever pressed on it there's only the guiding hand of a bored immortal(or perhaps a distant ancestor) or their soul was "special"

I think reincarnation is when a person dies and is reborn again. It is usually a baby that the person is reincarnated into but it can change depending on the author's opinions and decisions.

It depends on the religious interpretation, but as I see it, you die see a white light (which is the light shining into your new mothers vagina) and then you are reborn again, the thought of existence as a non corporeal life form somehow just feels wrong.
But then again, I might have had a tad too much PEX and am starting to imagine things best left to the buddhist monks of our world.

 

Basically an excuse authors made so even when the MC dies, they can invoke the reincarnation excuse and the MC shall rise again.

 

Transfer into another world mainly divided by 3 categories
-Reincarnation should mean that MC is born into that world and need to start form zero
-if they use someone body alive/dead , it should be classified as possession since some unknown soul is taking over the body
-lastly Transport/Summoned person aka Forced Kidnapping

 

All reincarnation is mandated by Truck-sama. It occurs when you are reborn and starting from anew.
