If you can open the lap top and clean it as dust could have accumulated and cause it to heat

    Then downgrade to windows 7

    Buy a fan pad

    Update drivers

Best thing you can do is to just buy a new laptop. Though for heavy gaming I recommend you buy a desktop

    Downgrade to XP.
    Change processor's thermal paste.
    Clean the fan.
    Use cooler.
    Room with AC.
Look at the game's system requirement.
Use old PC to play old game.

    as many have mentioned before...
in the seven years you will most likely need to do the following to keep your laptop running in top condition
-Keep cleaning them fans and reapplying thermal paste on the cpu, when it dries it keeps overheating.
-also since your laptop is 7 years old then windows 10 is not a good idea for it. It is just not designed for them older machines.
-it also helps to get the cooler pad for the laptop, well in some cases it just helps if you lift up the laptop by a centimeter or so from any surface so that air can pass through more easily
    - Room temp. also effects it.

BTW I am also taking my last few years out of my 7 year old laptop .. granted its actually a gaming laptop with much higher specs.. but still its quite obvious that I will have to change to a newer one soon even with constant care. PS computer chips and other components have guaranteed work age of 6-7 years after that all the electronics inside will start to malfunction.(by work age I mean if it was in constant use)

Most points were already said, but instead of buying new Laptop, buy a new Graphic Card & more RAM if possible.

yesh but then you have the issue of compatibility with motherboard and CPU and HDD might bottleneck .. its easier to get new system if you dont know what you are doing.

I using my 5 YO laptop to play Prototype 2
    And the temp hit 128°c

Try download some software to limit CPU and GPU usage that will help to reduce the heat produce from the hardware though your performance will be reduce at least it last a little longer.
And stop using 3D interface or something like aero , can reduce the load a little

Clean your GPU fan. I know people who never ever once opened their laptop to clean the dust and it accumulate. Then put some machine oil on the fan rotor.

Why did you even upgrade to windows 10? Playing games at that ram is already bad enough for a laptop and add to the fact that you are running it on windows 10 makes it damn near impossible to have low temp. If you love the laptop then downgrade the OS to windows 7. And go play your games with a new pc with atleast 8gb.

Not really a recommended solution but most manufactured Graphic Cards and such, tend to have shitty Thermal paste. So you can just change the thermal paste, can do much.

Secondly, you might wanna clean your computer if it is old. I suspect it is clogged with fine dust.

Honestly with those specs ... more ram will not do anything .. it will be bottlenecked by GPU CPU

    Repace your GPU paste.
    Clean up your laptop fan.
Strip the belly of your laptop and put a fan directly.
And lastly go to nearest computer service shop. this is my recommendation as computer technician. Here image to help you

well normally every laptop build so the part can handle thing like heating.
my recommendation is first clear the fan. also let a pro do it cause i see a lot of time that when a noob try to clear some part they broke that part.

if that didn't work thats the fan have some problem. you can fix this with changing the fan.

if you dont have the money to do that the last thing i can say is that you should change your windows.
my recommendation is XP or windows 7.

and there is a very easier way to solve it ^-^
    change your laptop '-'

    Put ice cubes on it.

If it is a purely overheating problem I think you can get cooling pads that you put under laptops.
