IRAS gone from Qidian (Chinese site)

It was brought to my attention that I'm Really a Superstar has been taken down from Qidian (their Chinese site, not QI).

The author is beginning a new book, and there he posted this message:



It says that for reasons beyond his control he can't continue writing IRAS. If he's allowed to later he will post a conclusion. The new book is here (that page), publication date pending.

No other reason is given, but the original novel page for IRAS is 404ed now. Perhaps copyright issues? Because of the novel's contents? I don't know.

my guess is that there is legal issues with something written in the novel (don't know what since I dropped it long ago) but well it's not a novel that I'll be missing, it was really a bad novel

IRAS is one of the novel I waited the most every week. I still want to read that stuff

 

I'm actually ok with it having no ending. There's nothing to resolve. Its just a fun ride. No more no less.

 

He write Let it go lyrics (from Frozen) in last chapter. Disney might hit them with copyright

I thought the English version was taken down for excessive racism. I guess it managed to even annoy the Chinese censors, haha.

... I don't think even Disney has the manpower to flip through the thousands of Qidian chapters everyday to protect their copyright? (if they do, lol scary)

I mean, if it's just one copyright matter, couldn't the author just take down that chapter?

 

IRAS is actually pretty good novel. Yeah there is part that annoying (the "sexy time" and the arc where he insult japanese diplomat) but most of them are fun. I actually learn quite a lot about china literature from IRAS.

But from what I read, IRAS will have the MC write japanese manga (one piece) and several other that already copyrighted.

Maybe because QI try to reach international market so IRAS and I'm in Holywood is impacted

I have to admit I have some connection to this book. I'm the one who translated the title originally, back when it was just a book on a list.

 

And nothing of value was lost. IRAS was hilarious in some places, but I'm not sad to see that trainwreck come to an end.

That's kinda easy though. A big company has a special department that's responsible for searching and for proctecting copyrighted stuff. There are also programs that can facilitate your search. In some cases.. just do a search on Google by using a quote and you'll see where it was mentioned. Also, as a novel/story/movie etc. grows in popularity, it gets easier for such things to be revealed, there are also people from the same field that know what's that about and, maybe, they've alerted(?) those who were protected by copy right.

 

Author plagiarize left and right , now MC are on global stage and the stuff he must plagiarize would be well known international stuff.
Even if Disney not sueing them , the next victim could.

 

If it was just copyright issues, Chang Yu could simply exchange the offending portions with different material. I think that this is something quite different, and the most likely cause is SARFT cracking down on web novels. I've already noticed a few other novels deleted from Qidian, so this is probably all part of the same symptom.
