So...what are your first impressions on Iron Fist? Only on episode three...but the uhh...fighting seems so bland, so slow....I can not help compare it to Ip Man... and probably the only reason I am watching a Marvel Tv Show is probably because it has some eastern martial arts...rarely do I watch Marvel Tv Shows..though the movies are good
Finished it. All the marvel shows are becoming like xianxia with trashy MC. Follows the same route of the strong prey on the weak until they find a magical power called friendship and mercy.
Sadly, this seems like the worst of the 4. The others each had something special. This one seems to fail at its special thing, which is martial arts. unless its special things is Marvel's version of Billions. IDK. Was so hyped for this. I didn't like the first episode. Maybe, I'll just skip this and wait for Wing and May's DDaughtersof the Dragon (keeping my fingers crossed)
for the people saying the fighting is bland and boring, THAT IS REAL MARTIAL ARTS, not that hollywood B.S and if you're looking for something special its right in front of you as that extremely attractive dojo master. P.S for the people thinking he is naive he was raised in a monastery please explain where he would get street smarts, actually just explain where he would have common book smarts all he did was train martia arts thats it
Real martial arts? Dude has a glowing hand that can punch through bank vaults. He is superhuman. he is a demi-god. He is the Immortal Iron Fist. when you have that sort of ability you need the supplementary powers that allow you to use it. so he has the bone structure that will prevent his body from shattering every time he uses his ability. The muscles, or chi strengthening. whatever. He isn't Batman. He has superpowers. Only normal human in the Defenders is Colleen Wing. Even misty May can crush cars with her Tony Stark hand. And danny rand can crush her tony stark hand.
After I watched "Jessica Jones", I couldn't bring myself to watch anymore of those series, Maybe in a few more months... or years
Not really interested in most of the marvel movies and series to begin with but I find the whitewashing controversy kinda funny, how do you "whitewash" an originally white character?
I just don't understand how he's supposed to be one of the best living martial artists of k'un-lun yet he struggles against average goons pretty often and the fight scenes are nowhere near as well choreographed as Daredevil fight scenes. I think the main problem is, is that with Daredevil it was easy to have a stand in for the lead while wearing his outfit for fight scenes but not so easy for Iron Fist.
From my understanding of the show, it was rushed. The actors had 2 - 3 weeks to prepare for the show and the fight scenes were made up during production. The actors only had about 15 minutes to learn the fight actions, that why the fights look sloppy and lazy. Without using the fist power, Danny should be able to walk into a shield base and defeat every personal there.
Very bad choice of actor for the MC. It's pathetic how he keeps repeating "I am the Iron fist" every goddamn episode, like he is afraid the viewers would forget. Not to mentio that buddhist chanting. Even Johnny English(2) did a better job at it. The MC's chanting sounded like a pussy. Extremely disappointed in the series. PS: I only continued watching for that bad-ass sexy swords-woman.
