Discussion Is Final Fantasy 15 any good

I want to buy FF15 but I want make sure its worth it.

 

No idea but angry joe listed it in top 10 of a year.

 

From what I hear it's a mixed bag.

"Driving" with the car seems to be one of the worst things in the game.

I haven't actually played the game though.

He probably didn't even play 10 games this year, he's too busy watching movies...

 

I like it. I found it hard to get into though. You start the game and you're like "So, where is the scenario?".

It doesn't feel like a typical final fantasy. Story-wise, I feel things are very casual despite the supposedly tense situation. Graphics wise it's very nice. Driving is crap, but thank god for fast travel and chocobo. Quests are very basic...very basic. Combat...I like it? It reminds me a bit of monster hunter but slightly faster? Overall, I'd say it's worth trying as long as you don't think of it as a final fantasy.

FFXV really depends on you, like what game would make it worth for you? Story?Gameplay?Aesthetics?Combat?
Advice I can give you is to watch someone's 1-3 hr gameplay video to actually get the feel to it. For my personal opinion, it's meh.

 

Since I watched the gameplay on youtube (since the game is out) I think it's good considering people had been waiting for it for years now.

It's a shame that I don't have a fucking PS4 to actually play it!!

This is strange, a lot of gamers criticised the story and praised the combat( minus the bad camera angles at times), so I am curious, did you really enjoy the story and didn't like the combat?
This is my first FF game, I hated the story, if you have played previous FF titles, how is the story in comparison to previous ones?
Edit: To the OP, if it is your first FF game, you may or may not like the story but you will enjoy the game, if you have played the previous titles, you might be disappointed( based on the experience of a couple of friends who have played previous titles).

 

I have played all previous final fantasy titles, the combat system in this final fantasy highly differs from the others. While it was enjoyable but there isn't much to the combat system. It lacked variation, the combat seems too simple. It felt more like a hack and slash game without much planning and strategy/tactics involved. While the implementation of open world combat along with the 3 other characters seems nice but most of the time teammates aren't really useful in fights with strong enemies other than the joint attacks and special attacks. They can't seem to hold their own. Most fights high-level fights depends on either soloing the enemy or keeping your companions alive with potions and elixirs enough to form a small lake.

Well for the story part, I was heavily biased. It is awful in the later parts for its execution , but on the whole emotional level it made up for its flaws.

 

I recently read that there will be a free dlc/Patch to iron out the story, are they doing the same thing with other aspects of the game?
And no this is not my first FF. (If tacticts advance counts.)

.....I guess it somewhat counts, though the final fantasy experience I had was on console. I played from final fantasy 7 - 15

I just read about the patch, not sure much difference except for the new game plus features

Combat can be repetitive at times is one of the few downfalls. It plays sort of like the FF7 spinoffs on the ps2. The handling and camera is decent, The car driving scenarios can sometimes be a drag because its in 'real time' unless you fast track to there which does cost GIL however. Driving it yourself is meh.

Visuals are stunning. The characters have their own set personalities, throughout side missions you learn more and more about them.
Which btw the side missions are entertaining and I actually spend time playing those even more than the main story.

All in all, it is a solid story and a good game. There are differences in this game than from the classic setups of previous final fantasy titles but I believe they made it work. it also still has a final fantasy feel mixed in so its not 100% different.
