Is novel update good or bad for the websites?

    Hi.
    I used to read several novels in several website before I meet novelupdates. I think this webpage is extremely useful. But now I have to do it again because some handmade novels of gravity tales are not registered here. Like dive element ( http://gravitytales.com/novel/the-divine-element)

    So I still love novelupdates but I started to think if it is as useful for the other webpages as it is for me or the other readers? Because not all his content is here or ... I do not know, I just wanted to randomly ask because I am curious.

    That's because original novels are not here on novel updates.
    It's been asked before and I doubt they'll start accepting originals anytime soon.

    Uh. that is an original composition. Novelupdates don't include those. Only Asian novels or something.

    Simple solution really. Just keep both or all tabs open.

    well before i joined novelupdates i just had links to every single website i read novels on (still haven't deleted those)
    problem is, my bookmark bar is completely full and you need to scroll for a bit before you reach the end of it+ another folder called "other bookmarks" is also full.
    Because of that i often forewent checking some of the websites for a while.
    In general i'd say it's better since you can still keep the websites with original novels in your bookmark bar like i used to do

    I know and I understand and accept it, it is normal. If not it could be a mess. What I wanna say if that for that reason I started to think about the topic of if novelupdates is as useful for the websites as it is for me or the other readers.

    It's certainly useful for Translation sites. Some people might never know of their existence until they meet Novelupdates you know?

    Yep. But this is for the unknown ones , doesn't it? Most of them are unknown ones or big ones? I have to say that I started with rainbowturtle and then I discovered gravity tales and then novelupdates and after novelupfates I discovered a lot a lot of small sites with good material but unknown if it was not for novelupdates, your words are so true in that case

    NU is only for translated asian novels. Original novels are mostly on royal road or similar sites. That said, something always slip through the net. That why I bookmark them, luckily their number is quite small.

    you'd be very much wrong. Why would Qidian International cause that? While we have left the chance of having a separate site for originals, originals will never be introduced to NU.

    the thing i hate when reading original compositions. . . is when yoy are engrossed at reading then to find out the author stopped and will re-write the whole thing up. . . again

    Or when the author's computer breaks, then they lose power for a week, then they get in an accident, and then they have family matters for about 1 year. (I appreciate what they do for us, but still)

    Every single non-wuxiaworld webnovel I read was discovered through this site. Going by my reading lists, that's a little over 40 novels, some of which I've donated towards, so... I'd assume the site is beneficial to the translator websites as well. Helps drive traffic thataway.

    The best solution is to build your own version of NU but for original English content on sites like Gravity Tales and RRL. That way everyone can benefit from another site like this for different content. You'll be able to keep track of everything you want and you'll get the experience of building a website such as this. And then the rest of us can show up and leech.

    Novelupdates is the saint that keeps evil aggregators from stealing traffic and money from fan translators.

    They don't accept original novels, but they are an absolute boon to the community that may struggle without a presence like this.
