Is Xianxiaworld losing money?

Revenue: Ad revenue
Expense: Paying translators per chapter (for several of their novels)

If the expense is greater than revenue, Xianxiaworld is running at a loss. Is the owner calling it quit?

Here's my take on Xianxiaworld

Owner is someone from China with basic English skills. This person thought they can make some money from the translations after reading an article about Wuxiaworld in China.
Set up website and hire some translators from China to translate into English. But these translators English were not good.
Xianxiaworld tried to recruit editors to make their translations readable. I remember seeing Chapter XX (Edited Version) for many of their novels after they went and edited the novels.
Xianxiaworld also try to recruit translators to move their series over to Xianxiaworld. Some did moved over.
Now Xianxiaworld is letting go of some of their translators.


Looking at their traffic ranking, they are not doing well enough to pay the translation bill.

I think xianxiaworld screwed the start and got a bad rep which caused a lot of people to somewhat avoid them or not donate which probably is the reason they are letting go stuff. They desperately need someone to talk to the community instead of just posting a update every 3months as a manager. RWX doesn't post that often on WW but he says some small stuff in his DE updates if he feels the need to do so. I think Xianxia world would need a re-branding at this point to survive with a couple relatively high profile translators but I don't see any of them going there instead of going to gravity/volaire if they can't get to WW.

 

WW was started just cuz RWX wanted to have fun...XW just seems too fake with the similar names and they have bad reputation....

 

What is the origin of bad rep?

first,they had a pretty big fight for AWE or A Thought Through Eternity.

It wasn't good.

Then,they destroyed many good works.How to say,their translation was bad.

They ate many works with a single move,but forgot to drink water and now their throat is not in good condition

I feel the same way about this, their site does not allow for translators to say anything and although not every translator says anything during their posts but some actually do, i remember when Arez used to be at Radiant almost every new chapter he would say something, which XXW doesnt have that ability for translators to interact in any way with their readers, also if a series stops updating they dont care, not even a small announcement saying sorry guys we dont have a tl for this project so we are letting it go...

 

Started with A thought through Eternity translation rights. Then they got blacklisted at reddit noveltranslation for spamming recruiting translator posts which is against the rules/guidelines. Next they don't give updates or reasons why a chapter was delayed or in hiatus. Inconsistency with the quality, obviously a series is being translated by different translators. Last I know they were suspected of cloning www. Wuxiaworld. Com with wuxiawolrd. CO to steal traffic. And which they defended that it was done by their fired IT staff.

 

There was a big fight over AWE and especially realms in firmament.

 

Yep, I mean they started to translate many works which were pretty famous and now are very famous,but a person can't become rich in a day(at least in reality that is impossible unless you are F4254354 lucky).

They tried to become the strongest under the the heavens with a few heavenly treasures(novels),but had no cultivation(readers/start) to support the treasures

realms of firmament...? How come I didn't hear about that...

Also,Xianxiaworld was created to be like websites in china like Qindian if i'm not wrong.

The style is almost the same.But there is a difference as XianxiaWorld doesn't have a base,a core to say.

So they risked many times,well let's say they don't have any profit currently,may even be losing money.

 

For me it was the awful translations, I've read better MTL's before, and it usually took them a while to get out edited versions. I also think they used MTL on several occasions and masked it as normal TL.

 

They forced out little shanks who was making quality translations with mass releasing below par translations to force him to drop the novel.

After that they had run ins with reddit for violating the rules later for AWE with other translators culminating with a very nasty aggregator site case which was the final nail in the coffin of XXW for me.
Oh and they pause their translations for months on end with zero communication after releasing a chapter for donation chapter of The portal of wonderland as well as not adhering to their schedule of releasing chapters for many novels.

First there was some problem they created with reddit which ended with them being banned there.
Then it was few novels where they competed with regular translators.
