Whenever I played a game where you could collect stuff, like RPG's or something like that. I always hoarding a lot of useless stuff. Why? Even though there's no possible way for me to use it, I feels like "maybe I will need it later" and store it in my inventory to rot.

In other case, it's not even useless things. Something like Potions and Stuff that increases Stat and EXP for a while. I will always feels reluctant to use it in case I need it more later. This is even more so for a one of a kind item in game. In fact, I'll probably never use it at all till the end of the game.

Even stuff that the only purpose is to be traded for cash, I never felt like to sell it. "Maybe it might be needed for a side quest" is what I thought. Even more baffling, I always buys Stuff that I know I still have a lot in the inventory even though I will never get to use for "just a precaution".

As a result, I have completed a lot of RPG with barely using a single recovery item. But at the expense of repeated defeat and countless wasted hours that could be avoided if I didn't get stingy with that Large HP Potion. This even affect me when I played MMORPG as well. I usually used all my In-game cash to expand my Inventory because of this.

Am I having a problem? Or am I not alone?

I do face the same problem. But it makes me a much better player to the point I no longer need recovery item anymore.

That kinda thing is normal. Though that just means that the game is horribly balanced when you have enough space to actually handicap yourself

I remember an item in WoW that did basically the same thing as the Paladin Bubble, but it was a single-use item rewarded by a non-repeatable quest.

I remember i once played a fps rpg-ish game, but the the thing is the basic pistol had unlimited ammo, so i ended up using it to finish the entire game, altough i had my inventory full of rpg, bombs, grenades & other stuff ...

I kept on saving guns, ammo & other untill i need it later ... never needed them till the end !!

I know this feeling. Specially when all of your inventory slots are gone and you still have shit you have to get. Ugh.

Depends on the item. I will use pots/potions/elixirs with no hesitation because that's what they are there for. I've played enough games to know that they are there to be used. Items that are usually tagged with something like 'can be sold for a premium' or 'can be sold at shops' or something I will unload ASAP because I can usually use the money to buy extra gear that i'll actually use.

Components or things that I will need for upgrades or something, never sell them though because it's pretty obvious that you're going to need them later. The only items that I tend not to use that I would get away with using more are items that give you temporary boosts/buffs, unless they are some form of enemy lure. They're good.

One time I was bored in Morrowwind and I laid every single sword I had (because no shop could afford to buy them) side by side, the total distance would have been about 100 or so meters

I have that dilemma when I found a Umbilical cord in my first playthrough.
Whether to eat that shit or save it in my inventory because it seemed important.
