If he can't balantly ask, he could drop some hints that he needs certain "things" to solve his disiple problem. being businessman, especially in Chinese culture, these so called hints are the ones that make or break any form of dealings hence that merchant should able to figure out what he need base on the hint.
plus, this problem has been haunting the billionaire merchant for quite some time and no one can replace his wife.

since MC can heal her easily, then he would be very generous with his payment, in hoping to keep good relation with MC (getting higher priorty) in the event another unsolvable problem comes out.

He could have said diagnose, examine etc etc, but he chose to say touch of all things
