    Finally, the winners are announced! Okay, the winners will be receiving the medals once they are done, which should be within two days! Which will declare the end of the first NU/NUF contest!

    Also, whether these will be made into the site medal will be Tony's decision.

    Most seems to think nu= book.

    Truth to be told, the theme 'what nu means to you' might be more appropriate for illustration instead of logo.

    But the way @Casul Reader worded it made it sound like you guys will be interviewing each and every contestant....

    I think a better meaning would be "If it can represent NU for what it is". Still vague as fuck, but makes more sense (in my mind)

    yeah.. all the logos have 'NU' or 'NUF' on them... it doesn't necessarily have to have NU or NUF in it does it...

    ……call me dumb or what, but I don't understand how logo #3, #5, #7, and #8 are related to NU…

    No, I'm not saying they're bad. I just don't understand the concept.

    Its real fun here at NUF where you can go and bombard some stresses out . Im thinking NUF as my stress ball I think. And NU for being a lazy bum for a fast pace directory.

    PS. I still remember opening dozens of website just to check for updates XD

    Is it just me or does anyone else find these logos to be filled with errors?

    I wrote a rant below on logos to vent some frustration. I kinda regret it now, but whatever.
    The basic elements to a logo are that it should be simple, memorable, versatile, timeless, and appropriate. You should also be able to tell what they represent without too much effort.

    In regards to this, most of these logos fail on multiple levels.

    Some of them don't have solid or minimal colors, meaning that they're less versatile than other logos, less memorable, and not simplistic enough. You won't see a lot of really good logos with gradients.

    A lot of logos don't represent NU properly, especially the ones with noticeably chinese themes. NU, in my opinion, is a site that represents a vast collection of online novels-- chinese, japanese, etc.-- and a way to easily access and get updates on them; a logo should be focused on novels, updates, or both. If CN novels die off some time in the future, and your logo was a dragon shaped NU, it wouldn't look very good.

    Some of the logos are difficult to get at first glance, such as the one with NU on an open book. For me, this is a relatively big flaw since, if I hadn't seen it before, it would definitely take me a second to even realize what it was. A logo should get its message across at a glance.

    Most, if not all, of the logos share the same problem of not representing anything, as they pretty much have minimal connection to novels or updates if at all. Adding on the site's title doesn't count.

    I do realize that some are also about the reading list function of NU, but that's a function and not the name of the site. Upon seeing 'novelupdates', one does not think of a reading list.

    Logos should also not have to rely on text to get their message across. If I took away the long text from some of these logos, nobody would know what they're for.

    I'll just give out my suggestions for winning logos even if it won't matter much. The logos are in pairs, meaning that the artist has matching logos for both the main site and the forums. Logos for a site and its forum should be matching or bear close resemblance after all.

    I'm basing color changes on the assumption that NU's colors are essentially blue and white. I'm also assuming that small changes can be done to the logos if they're used on the site.

    These two are the ones that, to me, look the best.

    @webolive has made a simple and memorable logo that one can easily associate with reloading-- or updating-- a page. Just change the color to a solid blue that matches the site's colors and you'd be good to go. In darker backgrounds, you can simply make it a white color without losing anything. On both logos, remove the pages inbetween the letters as they are almost invisible and take away from the overall simplicity. If need be, working with both logos or putting them on a black and white printout would be done easily. This logo, in my opinion, is by far the best choice.

    @DarthOu has made a simple enough, yet not quite memorable, logo that one can easily associate with turning the pages of a book. Make it one solid blue color and remove the 'novelupdates' text and it'd be ready for use. On darker backgrounds, you can easily change the main logo white, though it may not look as nice. For the forums logo, replace the text at the bottom with a large blue or white (depending on dark or light background) 'F' on the side. One can also easily work with either logo and use it on black and white printouts. This logo, in my opinion, is the second best choice.

    honestly like @SilentFyre one the best with the books making the N and the U bookshelf

    if you really wanted a NUF one just write Forum down one or all of the book's spines :)

    …but the Reading List is one of the reasons why I keep using this site.:cautious:
    +1. I love the concept of books and bookshelf. And moreover it's easy to read. Simple colored.
