Request Looking for free games with monster taming

Like pokemon... Not many are there you know?... You could try the Rune Factory series where you can tame monsters... Not much you do with them other than talk to them every day, or take them along with you to places and they fight along side you and the more tame they are, the better they get

 

Why not pokemon ROM hacks?

Not really what you're looking for (No dueling), but here are some.

If you don't mind flash, and that the game is dead at Alpha, there's Beast Signer -- Pretty similar to Digimon, and some others by the same developer (But again, all dead -- as in it was developed for some time, then dropped.)

If you don't mind MMO, there's a class in Dofus (might want to emulate it though, since the PC one is behind a pay-wall) and it's sequel Wakfu.

Then there are these, that aren't free, but others have also suggested something similar, so might as well. -- Though these, probably fall under the whole dueling thing.
