Recommendations Novel similar to Dungeon Defence (DD)

I picked it up a few days back and couldn't put it down. I just finished it and now I'm hunting for a subsitute to this drug

The dark theme of the novel was something that really seized me; it wasn't that typical ruthless, calculating MC but each - and literally every - character introduced had an unique, well-thought out personality. (Albeit fucked up) The dark themes coupled together with the incredible plot twists which leads you on gives you a refreshing and novel experience.

I'm mostly looking for a dark themed thriller novel with good development in both pacing and character. Of course I enjoy the typical fantasy novel where the MC trains like a dog and becomes OP, but that's of secondary concern to me now since DD set the bars too high.

Any good recommendations for other novels are of course, welcome and appreciated. ^^

I hightly doubt that you can find something similar to Dungeon Defence in quality. Try Overlord (LN) though

I think Dungeon Seeker would be a little similar with the very dark theme and ruthless calculating MC. Dimensional Sovereign comes to mind as well

 

Warning! Dimensional Sovereign is going garbage in a latter half.

 

We've been searching for a year now and still weren't able to find something that can even measure up to DD. But anyway one can only dream...

I don't know any novels so far that can measure up to DD, but I remembered reading something dark in RRL. It's the one with a hamster selling drugs.

 

Actually, the light novel closest in theme and style would probably be Psycho Love Comedy. Unfortunately, no legal copies of the translations remain on the Internet (though you can probably find some copies at those shady websites that pirate translations)

Yeah, that novel is way too high quality , realistic, and interesting to have anything that compare to it around the same genre. If you like those kind of Army, politics, and scheming novels, Tales of the Reincarnated Lord might tickle your interest. Well... if you do not really want to read a large prologue with some important info dumps well just skim the first 40 chapters.

Dd probably has no equal, but can try Daiost Gu, WMW, Reincarnator, Gekkou, these dangerous girl has my life in jeopardy, realist hero build a kingdom or try the tags psychopath, manipulative characters

the likes of that doesn't exist my friend.... DD is too high up for mere mortals to reach
(basically although there are quite a lot of great novels out there but DD is completely unique...too unique if i were to say....you either find it a masterpiece or total BS....i am the former)

 

I second Gekkou and Your and My Asylum. i don't think they're up to the level of DD but they have the same nuance.
Also second Ouroboros Record ~Circus of Oubeniel~ if you're looking for a darker/antihero MC.
