Hey guys o/ So a lot of us have tried to play Faery Tale Online recently and so far it has taken months just to reach a double digit position in the queue. This is simply because the game is designed so that players have to give birth to players, which takes forever and if all female players die the games over I guess. So, I propose we make our own game here! I recently got an advanced apprenticeship in software development after studying computer science for 2 years, so coding a game like this is not just for the community, but also to improve my own skills. The game will be released as a download. I will post a virus scan on here before publishing the download link. If you're making the game, what do you need from us? Design ideas. What Races exist on this world? What skills? What monsters? Can players play as monsters? What stats? Stuff like that. The races can be whatever you want, you just have to pick name, appearance, traits etc... and I'll throw it into the database. Can we ask for anything? Pretty much. This is a community designed game. You want an adventurers guild? Fine. You want rare skills? Sure. Will it cost anything? No, but. I know that sounds ominous, however the data is being stored on a hosted SQL server that costs a minuscule amount of money a month to maintain. I can pay for it out of my own pocket anyway, so no worries on that end. Will we be kept updated on the progress of the game? Yes. I need players to help me test certain things. The first thing is the login page. It works with me, but will it work with others? It also helps me test bugs. How is it like Faery Tale Online? So obviously, it would be a pretty crappy thing to do to copy this guy exactly, but to be honest. The only thing we're copying is the fact that this is a persistent world. One which exists after you log out. It's also not a browser game and is just designed for this community. How much of the work have you completed? None! Ok, I shouldn't sound happy at that. But I need design ideas for the world first, before I start designing mechanics. How long will it take? At best a few months, which is about how long it will take me to go from position 14 to 0. So I'm hoping the community will support the development of this game. I'm going to be designing it anyway as a way to test and improve my skills. The fact that a nice community made game comes out of it is just a sweet bonus. Thanks guys o/
Don't know anything about creating games or such... anything at all~ but Miyuu loves playing them ~ So go for it! just don't give it up half way~
Well I am sure alot of lurkers here knows how to code, I am still in baby steps with it. You can try to ask them for some helping hand. Goodluck with the game anyway. I suggest keeping the races and monsters the usual RPG games style and myths. It makes it easier to start with I guess. Races like humans, elves, beastmen, etc. I WANT AN UNDEAD SUMMONER though lol.... Lich ftw. Ainz sama! Edit: novel inspirations are also here lol. RImuru (slime tensei).
Beastman races may have differences in stats: Dog: average all Cat:+speed -wisdom Wolf: +attack -intelligence Dragon: +defence -speed
This really piqued my interest. I'd like to help with the lore when it's progressed far enough. As for races, I'd like to have classic mamonos included, but please no pigheads <_< An Insectoid or maritime race like nagas would be awesome.
Just so I can throw in ideas don't add guilds yet or parties (issues usually follow them)but allow pvp if you can AND I DEMAND A LOLI RACE!
