What I feel about the current NUF
I often say that NovelUpdates is a community. We laugh, we joke around, and make friends all after finding the NU website and liking it. However, some people take things too far and think that just because this is the internet, there are no rules. Well, there are rules, even in general chat. You don't have to click the link or even read it all, the so-called rules can be summed up with the sentence @Parth37955 posted at the very end "Post with common sense."

Spoiler: I did read the rules, all of them.

Calling the moderators 'Nazis' just because your thread got locked is not going to help you. Just read the rules! You might be lazy, but we are all here on the premise of being readers. For goodness sakes people. I love NUF, and it is the Staff here that make it possible.

Why am I even ranting about this?
I want general chat to be a fun place again as well. I think that some people have forgotten that NUF is a SFW environment however. It is literally posting rule #1!!!! Members here are all ages. There is a time and place for all topics. If you want to post something blatantly NSFW or want to spread your trollish ignorance for all to see... that is what reddit is for!

On the other hand, some topics in general chat can be and are 18+. They are making sure to follow the rules. First of all, they have marked it as a serious 'discussion' properly. Secondly, they have indicated the topic clearly in the threads title. I see a lot that are asking why Male protagonists in these longer novels are really dense or even virgins. The only rule I see these breaking are 'double posting.' They should really be merged into one topic. Actually, maybe these should be moved to novel discussions as well?

The point is, there is a difference between posting something to be a troll and posting something to create an actual discussion. We have members from all over the world. Why are there no threads about Favorite Vacation Spots or about Siteseeing or Hobbies or even just talking about NUF itself? If you create a thread you consider serious and it gets locked, talk it over with the mods. They are really busy and might have just skimmed over your topic and saw that it was posted in the wrong section or something. In the end, just post with common sense and you will be fine.

The Purpose of this Thread
I just want to give a big shout out to the mods and thank them for their hard work! Come support the mods with me ^_^

I like the mods and all that but when did general chat stop being fun? also considering all the pedo sex novels on NU being upset over some NSFW post on NUF seems... odd. Anyways yeah the mods do a great job for the most part and the site as whole is awesome.

Edit: your post seems well intentioned but it does seem similar to those dumb "youtube drama is a problem" videos.

The 'General' section right now is divided into half shit-posting and half whining about something irrelevant, and I love it. Reminds me of reddit before someone shoved a stick up their ass. I am also obligated to call you a teacher's pet, because that is what 12 year olds do, and while I am not physically 12 I like to believe that in my heart of hearts I am a 12 year old Minecraft lets-player.
