So how do you deal with bigger sites enticing your staff away?
It already happened to me, it might happen more often in the future

...learn to let go and move on. Better to let them leave in peace than cause everyone to be in shambles. Btw, they call it head-hunting irl =x

    Dude.... Seriously????
    It is not called poaching!!!!
    Bcz translator is not forced!!!!
If translator gets better readership on another site he/she would be a fool to give up the opportunity.... Unless there is some emotional attachment with the site....

    Silly question!!!

Give your staff some candy. Or just get cheat, go solo and become immortal.

Btw it's happen a lot, even in some company. The good one will be stolen if you don't have anything better to offer.

You should be more involved with your translators.. or atleast make them feels like home. Befriend them.. be fair to them, be supportive.
Ofcourse they could entice them with benefits..
But if you make them feels like they belong, they wont move..
Same things happens to rivaling business employee..

Give them a reason not to move.

You cant compete against paying websites if money is your translator goal. If you find translators that seeks the right community, if you have an active discord and (POSITIVE) viewer comments , they wont be tempted much to leave.

It's not like we're bound to someone, I have changed group a few times, generally the owner of the blog/web doesn't like the idea, but I think is normal to try to translate in bigger groups, I mean... What if one of those guys who translate in a run-of-the-mill blog gets a chance to translate in front page in WW?

Anyway, maybe it's just me, but you guys shouldn't get so angry when we translators change websites.

It really wouldn't matter to me. It's the journey that is important. If they want to leave, then it's their choice. It's a free country. I wish them good luck in their future endeavours. This song is an inspiration.

You can't do anything about it. Its not a pleasant thing, it's normal competition that happens a lot in real world as well. Translators are free to go as they want. Also most of them are tempted by the offers of big sites, but they dont understand that mostly there is no benefit from jumping from one website to another.

Well as i see it now a lot of people are joining hand and moving to bigger sites.

Ps let's join hands as well? ))))

I would suggest looking at the relationship between etvolare and her translators/editors as a reference

Well most of them had already said, what you need to do,

just let it go and move on. There's no point of lagging behind just for that,

Blackmailing is quiet effective but I don't recommend it.

The only thing which could be considered wrong wih regard to translation, is sites stealing your finished work, and using either ads or donations to earn money from work they have not done. Any translator or editor is and should be free to go where they want to, unless they sign a legally binding contract that is. Otherwise we might end up with a medium which will run itself into the ground and die.
