I noted that a gaming subforum doesn't have a thread dedicated to discussing our favorite games.

So we better fix that!

Here are some examples (Read: My favorites)

One of my favorite games of all times is a turn based game, Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
It is a ideal game for me because I often overthink about every single detail, but this game allows me to play at my own pace.

Another one of my favorites is Warcraft 3. A real time strategy game which has a awesome map making community, it always manages to suprise me, and it scratches that tryhard ''strategy master" itch occasionaly.
But if you think it is a game only about strategy, you would be gravely mistaken. You can have brawls, pokemon battles, naruto vs goku(if you like that kind of thing) , a rpg game unlike any other, hack 'n slash, etc. I would like to play it with someone as soon as I finish my final exam.

My favorite fps game is Thief 2: Metal Age. As a only game that did stealth mechanics right, it holds a special place in my heart. You truly feel like a thief, sneaking your way in and truly trying to not engage anyone in combat because of your shitty fighting skills. It has a modding community which can create amazing and unique scenarios. Honorable mentions to Daggerfall, Oblivion and Counter Strike.

There are also two types of games which might as well be the very air I breathe, considering how much I play them.

Roguelikes, the type that is Angband, Sil, Nethack, Infra Arcana, Poschengband, TSL, ADOM, ToME. Basically a type of game that usually consists of letter based graphics, thought you do have some exceptions.

And the other genre is Shmups, more commonly known as Bullet Hell. With no time to think, this genre truly relaxes me with its frenetic, memory/reflex/dexterity based gameplay. There sre some legends that master shmup players don't need a umbrella, because they can dodge rain. Of this genre Dodonpachi series, Touhou project, Battle Garegga, Armed Police Batrider, Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun are my favorites.

 

You can also brag that your taste is clearly superior to everyone else, how can PLEBIANS DARE to love a game which YOU don't like. Psh, plebians.

 

Dragon Project. A mobile game with superb graphics

 

Kingdom Rush series and the new sci-fi version Iron Marines are all really good games as they incorporate a lot of flexibility as well as quick thinking in the new Iron Marines.

 

Mine is HoMM5. Hundreds of hours in that game, I remember keeping the AI alive just so I can build massive armies with godly heroes. Or Battle for Wesnoth.

 

For mobile games, I think it should be AOV I guess, just playing it recently (I used to play another MOBA games, but I need a new scenery)

Farcry and Uncharted are a tie for me

 

Tetris. Love it the first time. Love it till now. Others come and go.

 

Dunno about all time, but in recent years (months) Nier:Automata. The story is amazing, the soundtrack is thhe undisputed best of the year, gameplay was pretty good. I really enjoyed the 100% completion run for the game, and the 26 endings (5 main, 21 jokes) were well worth all the effort.

 

Tetris

 

Anno 1404. Although there's a lot of new vr, this is the only one I play the most.

 

I for one love jrpg's

Though my favorites are based on nostalgia and I don't play as many games these days.

My favorite and for me, the best RPG's are Suikoden 2, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Mother 3

My favorite Action games are LOZ: Ocarina of Time, Parasite Eve 2, Castlevania SOTN

My favorite Strategy games are Final Fantasy Tactics and, Tactics Ogre - The Knight of Lodis

Truthfully I don't remember all the games I played, so I may add some games later, but those game above is the most memorable for me.

And for best game soundtrack it is still Chrono Cross for me, but Nier is a close second
