    Rec me!

Something similar to Monster, or any anime with a main character similar to Johan Liebert (my all-time favourite character <3). Mind games, battle of wits, well written anti-heroes and antagonists, etc... you get the idea.

Some stuff I've already watched and enjoyed: Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Death Note, Kaiji, Akagi, Gankutsuou, Ergo Proxy, Mousou Dairinin, One Outs

Similar stuff (according to MAL recs) I've tried but did not enjoy: Steins Gate, Code Geass, Psycho Pass, Zankyou no Terror...

    Thanks ^^

    • Deadman Wonderland (not for the faint of heart, more of psychological horror)

    • Death Parade (psychological and rather philosophical, same studio as Death Note)

    • Shiki (don't be put of by the rather ugly art, the storytelling and moral point/question at the end is very well-made)

    • Aijin (The first season only. Liked the atmosphere & pacing of the series and unique animation style. The moral message is definitely important and the main character is not your typical good guy- hero personality.)

    • Durarara!! (Psychological, mystery and mind games. Things not really what they seem. Interesting setting in modern day Tokyo but with rather surreal elements and twisted characters. A little slow in the start as the story is somewhat complicated so might need som time before getting what's really going on, so give it a few episodes before judgement. Only downside is that the shounen-tag is rather obvious, but I think other parts make up for it. Interesting enough the series seems more light-hearted at the surface, however if you think deeper about it the story is actually pretty dark... Actually deals with some heavy themes everyday people can encounter in everyday life (which is rather surprising considering how surreal the series itself is)

    • Umineko no Naku Koro ni (Psychological and mystery-mind games)

On another note, no one here recommended Death Note which I find quite surprising...
